Placed in the end of a narrow street, this hotel joins the great location with the calm and silence which is quite difficult to get in Venice. The staff is very attentive and helpful. However, the hotel already passed its golden years. The structure is quite old and un-updated. The age of the furniture and decoration may give you a...

To start off, the greeting and smile one receives as you walk through the doors is as sincere as it gets. Sergio, is the sweetest and most helpful of all the people we came across in Venice! We got off the cruise ship very early in the morning and checked in. He asked if we were up to doing some...

My 14 year old daughter and I stayed here for 10 nights late July and it became a home away from home -- we took a day trip to Florence and arrived back to the hotel around 10:30 pm and the night staff cooked my daughter a beautiful plate of pasta -- better than some that she had in restaurants!...

Breakfast here is amazing the food is great and the staff are wonderful. I would stay here again just becasue of the breakfast. It easily sets this hotel apart from others. The hotel is cute it takes you back in time. It has a lot of personality, is down a quiet street and has a nice courtyard. If modern is...

The hotel is tucked away in an alley, but the location is perfect. Just 5 minutes from St. Mark's square. The courtyard is lovely and the service was outstanding. There was one particular gentlemen who was extremely helpful (I wish I could remember his name). He gave us some restaurant suggestions and made reservations for us. The breakfast was excellent...

We stayed here during high season (mid August) at the end of 2 weeks touring Italy. The Hotel Flora does everything well. Soft sheets. Quiet. A PHENOMENAL breakfast (e.g., fresh baked croissant and other pastries, eggs, ham, cheese, bread, juices, yogurt, good coffee) is included. It's amazing what the chef creates in the small adjacent kitchen. Giovanni at the front...

We stayed here before embarking on a 7 night cruise as we wanted to experience Venice for a day beforehand. I chose this hotel knowing that we had little time to spend and wanted to be close to the St. Mark's area as that is where we planned be for the time. It was perfect for this and the hotel...

Great location helps make the Hotel Flora a great destination. Within 10 mins walking distance to San Marco and a Vaporetto stop. Great nearby restaurants and a super helpful and friendly staff made all the difference. Rooms were very comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate (we had a standard double room). The breakfast buffet was outstanding and could...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
