Had only one night here but it was a charming experience. A very welcoming and helpful concierge, charming hotel with a beautiful outdoor area for breakfast. The rooms are tiny and it was a squeeze for our family of five but that is expected in Venice. The Hotel is expensive but they all seem to be in Venice.

This hotel is in a good location. Close to St Marks and walking distance to many of the major sites. Good shopping around the hotel. The courtyard of the hotel is quite charming. The breakfast is good and offers fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads, eggs, bacon and sausage. There is also a small bar where you can have a drink or...

I just spent 3 nights at the Hotel Flora and found it to be the perfect retreat from the crowds of St. Mark's Square, etc. At the end of each long and wonderful day of exploring the city, we relaxed in the hotel's garden with a glass of prosecco. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary for this city and fortified us...

This was a quaint and charming hotel in a very convenient location - walking distance to Piazza San Marco, shops, restaurants, vaporetto and water taxis, yet far enough away from the busiest parts of Venice. The room and bathroom were very small, not unlike many older European hotels. However, it was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air...

We stayed for two nights. We had booked two superior rooms in our name. It was odd that given that when we checked in they gave the larger nicer room to the couple we were traveling with. We didn't notice til the last evening so just let it go. The hotel staff is very professional, kind and courteous. The rooms are...

Lovely family run oasis just off the main drag. Close to boats, only one bridge to cross. Shady garden, lovely breakfast and very helpful staff. The only downside was the shower, very small trapped between washbasin and toilet made it a challenge.

This lovely family run hotel is conveniently located at the end of a small street off of bustling Calle Larga XXII Marzo. It is a five to seven minute walk to Piazza San Marco, which is not only good for sightseeing but also a hub for various vaporetto and Alilaguna lines. Since the hotel was so close to the Piazza...

My wife and I spent our first few days of our honeymoon in Venice and stayed at Hotel Flora. Almost the best location in Venice minus not being on the canal but other than that quiet and perfect just steps from water taxis, St Marks Square, the Best shopping and much more. This hotel is also very easy to get...

Venice is very busy in the summer but this little hotel was such a wonderful oasis to return to each night. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The hotel is beautiful with quiet rooms and wonderful beds. Breakfast was delicious. Would stay here again in a moment.

We loved our 2 night stay a few weeks ago, hotel is beautiful in every aspect, original building about 300 years old with sensitive renovation and restoration. Lovely décor and breakfast room, especially garden courtyard for breakfast. Rooms were quiet and we slept well. Free hifi was great too. Staff professional, friendly and courteous and seemed to enjoy their work....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
