We stayed in the apartment around the corner from the hotel. It was clean and comfortable with full amenities. It was in a perfect location, within walking distance of anywhere you want to go. The staff in the hotel were very helpful when needed. Would stay there again

The hotel was excellent with friendly helpful staff, nice clean rooms and great variety of breakfast to choose. The hotel is located central which is great as you are able to reach different parts of Venice easily.

Upon arrival to Hotel Da Bruno we really didn't know what to expect. Our first time in Venice. The 1st room we were assigned had some mold in the bathroom so they quickly changed us to another room with no problem. All of the buildings in Venice are very old so we knew we didn't expect a palace and we...

Returned yesterday from a wonderful trip! We booked a one bedroom apartment at Charming Apartments, it was beautiful, much bigger than we expected and the location was perfect. We travelled with our 11 year old daughter and so glad we booked an apartment rather than a hotel, we found Venice expensive to eat out all the time, so at lunch...

This was third hotel that we stayed in while in Italy. Although there was no elevator and we had the room on the top floor, our time there was awesome. The hotel offered a free water taxi to Merano and a free tour of glass blowing every morning. I would stay there again.

all of the above plus friendly and helpful service. It was close to piazza san marco and surrounded by plenty of shops and even a supermarket. They also changed our one bed to two bed bedroom when we asked for free :)

Can't recommend this hotel enough. Lovely warm welcome from paolo at front desk with a drink each on arrival. Gorgeous room and very comfortable bed. Great breakfast and hotel is in a perfect central location to explore. But best thing about this hotel was the staff. Couldn't do enough for you and always happy. Will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful and spacious apartment. We were really able to relax as it was located in a little street, set back from the "Venice action", very peaceful. It was ideal as we were also close to the Rialto bridge and able to walk to lots of our intended destinations. We found the staff...

Very clean, wonderful location and spacious rooms for an excellent winter price. The kitchen and bedrooms overlook a canal and a tiny balcony makes a glass of wine extra special. We would definitely stay there again next time we go to Venice.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
