We would have liked 2 more pillows on the beds but we didn't bother to ask for any more. The mosquitoes were a problem. The doorway into the shower cubicle was extremely narrow. The room was comfortable, and clean. Breakfasts were adequate, and the charges for the bar in the evening were low. We liked the outside terrace very much.

This is a three star hotel in Venice with everything going for it. Quite fab. location away from the crowds easy access to Zattere and Accademia vaporetti stops, helpful staff on Reception - really efficient staff in a very busy breakfast room. Wide choice at breakfast - and I'd say for a three star quite exceptional! We've been to Venice... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is in a good central location and good value. The room was clean and nicely decorated and the hotel is really quiet. Breakfast is good each morning with fresh bread and pastries and coffee and fruit. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 is we booked a double room and the bed... More

This is a three-star hotel with not a great deal to recommend it except for its location, which is a short, easy walk to and from the ferry to the mainland and airport. I stayed here with a tour group. My room was over-decorated (almost baroque) for my taste and the bathroom was small, but functional. The bed was comfortable... More

Booked this hotel for a 4 night stay. The pics on the website were very misleading. The room I had was very small and quite tatty, the carpet was worn and dirty - you could see what it used to look like under the table, the walls were scuffed, with knocks and scratches throughout the room. You could walk round... More

Brilliant hotel for the price. Excellent location just a few minutes from two different vaporetto stops (Academia and Zattere). also the Allilaguna line so great for the airport. Large, clean and quiet rooms. Despite there being many guests, we were never aware of any noise. Excellent breakfast with more than enough choice. Lovely outside terrace area - useful for long... I stayed here for two nights on 13th & 14th October - I booked via Booking.Com and was told when I came to check-out that Booking.Com was pre-authorisation only and that I had to settle my bill with the hotel. As I had not been able to print the booking via Booking.Com (as I had booked the room whilst on... More

When we at the original booking at Hotel Alcyone, we were told that we couldn't stay there as there was a problem with the bathroom and we had to make a further walk with our cases through the bustling streets. Upon arrival at the Hotel Belle Arti, we were greeted with a smelly room, a bathroom door that opened onto... More

The Belle Arti is in a brilliant location. exactly between Zattere and Accademia vaporetto stops and only three minutes away from the Accademia Bridge, which hooks you in to the main walks in central Venice. The Accademia Gallery is in the adjacent building, with the entrance four minutes away, and it is five minutes to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The... More

The hotel is easy to find and conveniently close to Piazza San Marco (10mins away). It is situated outside the tourist bustle of Venice, which is great, and a 10min walk to Campo Santa Margherita (great place to be at night). The rooms are on the small end, and breakfast is adequate and fresh (they have a wonderful patio to... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
