Stayed here after finishing a cruise in Venice. Location close to the water bus stops so got a single ticket from the cruise terminal to zattere and walked. Tucked away in a quiet side street the rooms are basic but adequate. Easy to walk to key attractions and lovely restaurants around. We eat at the restaurant on the last night....

We had a giant meal here on the recommendation of our hotel. The staff was very friendly and the food delicious. The sarde in saór (sardines marinated in onions, kind of like pickled herring) and pasta in squid ink were especially good items that we don't see at home. We also liked the eggplant side dish here; if you love...

location is walkable to vaporetto station. we arrived to Zattero station since directions are easy to hotel from there. But Rezzenico is closest. close to fast food and pharmacy etc...we had a large room for 3 of us. the view from room was wonderful. AC worked great. it was a perfect hotel for us.

The staff aren't the most welcoming, but the food was fantastic and the room was good - the bed was a bit lumpy but it was comfortable and the aircon was on another level. Shame the bathroom was outside the room but really overall it was perfect for my trip.

Joe Links wrote one of the great guide books of the world when he penned 'Venice for Pleasure', first published in 1966. It is still a book anyone visiting Venice should take with them and in it he recommends that we turn right on our walk from the Zattere to the Academia along the side of the Rio Eremite to...

I think many tourists who only have one day in Venice leave with a completely different impression than those who stay a few days. Day-trippers from the mainland and thousands of cruise passengers are all guide book directed to San Marco and Rialto. The result? For them, Venice must seem like Times Square on New Year's Eve. If you are...

Stayed at the Loconda Montin last week (Easter weekend) as part of an independent trip around Italy. I stayed for 4 nights in total in a single bed room with a shared shower (I didn't once have to wait). The room itself has a sink in which was a nice bonus. Nice balcony looking over a small canal, and catches...

We had a pleasant meal - we both chose the liver which was absolutely excellent. The starter was the shared fish which was also very good. Only 4 stars though as the place lacked ambience and warmth. Might be better in the summer when one can sit outside under the vines.

We had been recommended to try this restaurant & we did eventually find it(not easy!) The menu is relatively simple but our experience suggests that the staff whilst being very professional are more used to serving people who know the place well & are not used to guiding the innocents around the menu-which we were!

Authentic good food wine and ambiance. A little hard to find but worth it. Got there nearly at closing time 2:30 so was offered a partial men of three pasta items. Delicious. Only negative is they charged 8 e for bread we didn't eat or ask for. Still food was good.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
