Small friendly hotel with a great character of Italy. Set beside a canal, opt for a canal view room. Very clean and tidy. Nothing was too much trouble for this hotel. 15 minutes walk to all main attractions, yet far enough away to obtain reasonable prices. Perfect place to stay and I would definitely come back here.

This hotel is reasonably priced and within walking distance to everything. My room was very small but very clean. Showers worked lots of hot water. There is maid service everyday and a grocery store for water and wine just down the road. I would have no problem staying here again. Very friendly and very safe.

Just returned from city break in Venice and spent 4 nights at Hotel Tintoretto. Nice room with maid service every day. Breakfast was in restaurant below hotel which was really good and you eat whilst sitting beside a canal. Girls in reception very helpful and organized. Hotel is located in Carneggio region and is approx a 20 minute walk from...

Stayed for 5 nights with my two older teenage children in a triple room. Three single beds as requested (and confirmed by hotel prior to stay). Rooms were clean and all staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided was good....typical breakfast you would expect in Italy. Evening meal in restaurant was also excellent, with great service. Easy to get...

Reception area is too tiny only one person can be there at a time. No elevator or assistance to carry luggage upstairs. Room small and dingy. Both windows open to cement walls so kept shut therefore no daylight. Bathroom old and rundown with no toiletries except 2 soaps and a packet of shampoo. Beds were hard as rock. Very difficult...

Just back, this hotel was almost perfect for us. If the breakfast was better it'll be a 5 star review. Breakfast is basically cereal, toast, croissants, boiled eggs & ham. It's OK but definitely could be better, selection and quality. But, you sit next to the canal eating it. Our canal view room was lovely. Gondolas passing the windows. But...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
