The hotel policies and description does not mention a one off 40 euro cleaning fee. This fee does not mean they clean your room every day and give you new towels etc. It seems to be a way for them to reduce the true listing cost of their hotel.

Basic 3 star hotel let down by 1 star service. Comfortable bed. Reasonable basic breakfast. Air con struggles. Lots of stairs for old people to drag cases up with no help from staff. No room for luggage in room.  The real let down of this place is the attitude of the staff. They were dismissive and actively avoided helping or...

The hotel is quiet nice. We had a family rooms for 4 adults and 1 child. The good thing was as the hotel is centrally air conditioned so when you enter the room is cool however, it was a double storey room and the air conditioning was not strong enough to cool the top part of the room so the...

Very annoyed when we arrived and girl at reception was curt, room on 1st floor, no lift or porter and told only 1 floor! We had 23kilo cases and there were lots of stairs! Initially thought room was awful as bed on mezzanine level up wooden staircase, however had we come from a 'modern' country we may have found it...

This hotel was well located-5 mins from Alilaguna stop and across from 5.1 and 5.2 waterbus stop. We first stayed in the new part which had nice rooms but a terrible smell in the building (not in the room) and it wasn't the canal. The room and bathroom were nice and spacious. We also stayed in the old part which...

Good points: good air-con and (water) bus stop right outside front door. Not so good points: Staff were rude, disinterested and unhelpful; Room was tiny but I guess this can be expected in Venice (they squeezed 3 of us in a tiny room so it was wall-to-wall beds!); The only hotel in our 3 week European holiday that didn't offer...

Good location....not far from the main tourist spots. Hotel more like a good b&b we had a canal view room and was fine for 2 nights, clean and spacious. Breakfast wasn't too good but there is so many nice places to eat it wasn't an issue. Water bus stops outside the hotel which is easy to use. I would stay...

Beautiful hotel, rooms clean, specious and decor to suite Venice. Staff happy to help when required nothing to much trouble. Walking distance 25 minutes to Piazza San Marco although good map reading is important. Easy water bus from airport, highly recommend.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
