This is a great hotel and should be your first choice when visiting Venice, Italy. We were there for 3 days as part of our Italy tour and we had a wonderful time. The room was comfortable with the right mix of old world charm and modern amenities. The service from the hotel staff was excellent. The restaurant presented a...

We so enjoyed every minute of our three day stay! The hotel building itself is beautiful; location so convenient to access from the Alilaguna airport shuttle; minutes from Piazza San Marco, shopping, and the knowledgeable and very professional concierges will take great care of you in recommending restaurant choices for your meal out! We arrived by water taxi and we were dropped off at the Trinita water taxi pier, which is just a very short walk to the Saturnia hotel. The hotel is olde worlde and the features are authentic of its era. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was a reasonable size as was the bathroom. We had a...

Excellent location. Walking distance from the Gondols, Place St Marco and restos/shops. Friendly and helpful front office employees. They speak many languages, so there is a high probability for them to speak yours. Breakfast: delicious! Internet connection: As expected. Room size: average.

Having waited almost 11 years to return to Venice for a second holiday (the first being our honeymoon) it was important to find a romantic hotel, in a great location, without breaking the bank and after a lot of searching I came across the Hotel Saturnia and International which is within 3 minutes walk of Piazza San Marco (St Mark's...

After staying four other times in Venice, we stayed here and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations, service or location. Breakfast is a typical italian buffet, with good, strong coffee. The room was spacious and clean and very Venitian ! Worth staying at!!

Our first night in the hotel, we of course did not know the area and were tired from our travels. We went to your restaurant for dinner not realizing how busy it might be. The Maitre d' of the restaurant very graciously found us a table. We were given excellent service. Our room was wonderful. Very comfortable and well appointed....

There is something absolutely wonderful about getting your luggage at the Venice airport, stepping into a private water taxi, boating for about 40 minutes to Venice and then through several canals, and arriving at the back door of this magnificent hotel!!!! The luggage was taken directly to our elegant and spacious room, though we were several hours early. Breakfasts were...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

“When we take a City Break we want a clean comfortable and reasonably spacious bedroom and a good bathroom other than that we go to take in the sites and culture so are not bothered by the aspect of the room. Just in case you like a room with a view however be aware that most hotels in Venice have only a view of rooftops or the other side of the street. ”
