Starting with the good points. This hotel has a fantastic location. On a shopping street but very close to St Marks Square and a short walk to the Rialto and Accademia. Teatro La Fenice is just a minute away. I found it to be a very traditional hotel. Furnishings are dark, floors creak and there's flock wallpaper everywhere. If you...

Located in the tonier section of Venice's shopping, you'll feel very comfortable moving around at night. And, the staff was very welcoming and eager to help. We booked 2 rooms for our group and they were right next door! The room that slept 2 people was small, but the other, which we booked anticipating 3 guests, was much roomier. The...

This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location for site seeing. We love our room. Comfortable size for our family and the beds are not as hard as other places we've been at in Italy so far. The shower is small but manageable. However, the service is not very good. Most staff are not friendly. Some of them don't...

The location was great. Centrally located, easy to get around. Rooms very clean, and rooftop deck was a plus for evening drinks by sunset. Also, our luggage was lost from our flight and the staff was great in helping us track it down and get it delivered the next day. Very helpful.

My wife and I had traveled to Venice before we knew what to expect about the crowds, cruise ships, tour groups etc, but you need a good nights sleep to put up with all the frustration the beds were like sleeping on concrete block, had to ask a number of times for extra pillows received half of requested 4, small...

It's a brilliant place to stay.... So close to everything and right in the shopping district. Clean. We walked everywhere and only used the water taxi to and from the hotel because of our luggage. Highly recommend it, since it was clean and felt safe.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights; it was perfect for a short break. The location is amazing, the staff were lovely and the room was lovely and very clean and tidy. The hotel is much bigger and nicer than it looks on photos; i tried to take some photos while there but they don't capture how nice it...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

“We paid extra for a deluxe double but had to change on arrival as our first room 45 was small but had a jacuzzi bath which we do not like. I am not sure that this room was worth the additional payment however the room we changed too Room 206 absolutely was a deluxe room in size and an excellent bathroom with seperate shower, double sinks, all in grey marble . The windows overlooking the canal with the passing gondolers added a welcome feature. The receptionist and concierge changed our room without fuss and our overall stay and service we received was excellent. I recommend this hotel.”
