This hotel was amazing for location. We didn't need to get a boat anywhere, everything was within walking distance. The room we had was lovely too, the bathroom was wonderful with a powerful shower! The breakfast was continental just I would have loved to be offered tea rather than feel I'm pestering the waitress for hot water and milk. Also,...

Great placement and friendly staff. Would have appreciated bottled water for the breakfast, and better espresso. Wifi was very stable. The hotel is close to a water bus stop, and only a couple of minutes walk from st Marco square. The design of the rooms are awesome, but beware of carpeted floors at least in some of the rooms. (Not...

This hotel is in a great location. 5-15 min walk to most popular spots in Venice, including St Marks Square. However, we were pretty disappointed with our room. The bed wasn't comfortable. We could feel every spring in the mattress. The pillow was so flat I had to use my neck pillow I use for the plane as extra cushion....

My husband and I booked a trip to Italy and we had the worst experience with Central Holidays. The hotels were horrible, to say the least. No information was given regarding the rail passes and we even got fined for our passes to Cinque De Terre. The last hotel (The Torino) was so bad that our room was no larger...

Visited with my daughter for a long weekend in a very hot period in July. We found the hotel with no problems at all a two or three minute walk from the Giglio stop on the vapporetto straight from the airport. The entrance was small but impressive, in fact I'd say the same for everything about the hotel. Our room...

Centrally located and easy to find by Google map. The room is nice with a big bed and a nice bathroom with a shower. Tv Chanel's all Italian speakers. Still, recommended and consider, Venezia was developed a few centuries ago and with an unusual history that should be studied before visiting.

We are really disappointed in this hotel experience. Our AC unit was stuck on low mode and produced very little cool air - creating a sticky and warm room for three days. The front desk guy came up to look at it said its fine and left. The hotel bed was stiff as a board and very uncomfortable. The bathroom...

The rooms are quite small but very clean with everything you need. Breakfast was typical continental and you had to ask for some things the later you went. The best bit was the location for the price. It is 5 minutes from St Marks square and the same to the water buses. The lift was extremely slow moving but ok...

I just returned from a Mediterranean cruise that left from and returned to Venice. We chose to stay at the Hotel Torino for our extra day at the end of the cruise. We really loved this hotel. First of all the staff at check-in, during our stay and when we were leaving were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel, like...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
