This hotel is well located in a beautiful part of Venice. It is about a 30 minute walk from the rail station or you can take the frequent ACTV Vaporetto number 1 ferry bus to the Ca’ D’Oro stop. From here it is a 3 minute walk to the hotel. Tip: the cost for a single ticket is €7.50 but if you’re planning to spend a day or two in Venice you should purchase the 24, 48 or 72 hour tickets from the kiosk or vending machine. It’ll come handy for exploring Venice. The hotel is small but stylish, our room was clean and had all we needed. We chose a canal view room which overlooked the bridge outside the hotel. You are surrounded by tourists, restaurants and the buzz of Venice. The staff were friendly and attentive. As is the case with Venice, you’ll be climbing a lot of steps and this hotel has two flights of stairs to reception, however there did seem to be a stairlift for anyone requiring it. Breakfast is served from 7.30am.…
I am very Disappointed. I would not recommend this hotel. After walking, what was said a 10 minute walk from the Orange line. Was an hour walk Up and down Hundreds of stairs. With Luggage and nearly 70yrs. Old we should have been advised of the difficult journey. The man checking us in was Wonderful and Helpful. From that day forward, the staff was very cold and unhelpful. We paid for a superior room with river view. That did not happen. The small refrigerator was barely stocked. Stairs… stairs.. stairs.. this Hotel is like a Maze! Most questions to staff were, “I don’t know “. No modern amities. No USB plugs. Very Small Bathroom. 4 hangers for the Closet. I noticed at the end of the Reviews.. excuses for the Poor Hotel Services. I would love to move to a most appropriate Hotel. This Hotel is Very very over priced for what the offer. Or should I say, Don’t offer! Disappointed…
Excellent location, very comfy bed, great view out of our "deluxe canal view" room windows and also from the breakfast room. Yes it was a bit noisy in the evening but that's what you expect from a hotel right on the main tourist thoroughfare, and closing the shutters blocked most of it out (I wonder if other reviewers who complained figured out how to close the shutters?). Highly recommend getting a water taxi to/from the airport. It's quite expensive at €130 each way, but you can't beat getting out of the taxi at the dock right in front of the hotel.
Absolutely beautiful place in very central location. The rooms are stunning, and the recepcionists are very helpful and nice. The rooms are clean and elegant. It's a very fine high end, especially the superior rooms. The only thing I would probably improve is the toiletries and the breakfast choice is a bit limited but the service is perfect.
Antico Doge is a very elegant place. Our room (deluxe) was spacious and elegant. Staff is friendly and helpful. Although in the middle of Venice even a quiet place at night. Only negative point is that breakfast buffet should have more choice.
The best thing about this hotel is the fantastic location. Room was comfortable and decent bathroom. It was grate value too. Staff were very friendly and gave us a map and lots of recommendations and help. Breakfast was average (at best). Overall for a mid-range hotel at the price we paid we were delighted and would highly recommend.
Picture postcard setting. Super friendly staff and very comfortable. The decoration and attention to detail in the rooms was of a high standard. Felt like a lot more than three stars. Very busy outside but all is peace and tranquility inside. The path and bridge outside were thronged with tourists so it was a relief to step in.
We stayed here for 4 nights in November on our arrival we were shown to a small double room which was not what we had booked the staff at check in soon sorted it out. The hotel was in a excellent spot with plenty of bars and restaurants close by with a restaurant attached to the hotel itself serving good food. Very central to all attractions with water buses within 5 min walk from the hotel. Hotel was clean and rooms were spacious with a nice comfy bed, a selection of tea, coffee milk and sugar in the room would be a plus, but instead we had to grab it from breakfast ready for the morning.... Bathroom had a good shower and also very clean...staff were polite and helpful. The continental breakfast was not so good with very limited choice. Very quiet neibourhood with lots of shops and bars within a short walk.. Only a short stroll to Rialto bridge.... all in all we had a great stay and would return..... I would recommend an upgrade to the canal view....…
Beautiful historic hotel in the center of Venice. Rooms were quite large with comfortable beds and good, strong air conditioner (much needed in August with temps approaching 100-degrees F). No elevator, but the porter delivered our bag to the room, which was nice. Breakfast room was convenient and had a wide selection of pastries, meats, cheeses and breads. Delicious made-to-order espresso drinks and caffe lattes were much appreciated. Close to EVERYTHING!! Literally step out the door and you're in the middle of the action. Go to the left, explore one area...go to the right, explore another. Also close to the water taxi to the airport, which was great for us with a 7:00 AM departure.
Stayed here with my Partner in mid-December. Our experience was generally positive with a few issues to note. We booked through tripadvisor but didn’t get a confirmation email from the hotel until I followed them up. The hotel was super easy to get to from the train station, takes less than 15 mins via water bus. Check-in was no issues, we arrived about 4pm. The check-in lady also gave us a run down of the city and where the main attracts are relative to our location. Quite helpful. There is no lift, and the porter brought our bags up straight away which was good. The room was quite spacious compared to the rest of our hotel stays in Europe. Older style. Bathroom provided shampoo, soap and some creams and plenty of towels for our 2 night stay. We had a room on level 1 (room 210) that overlooked the street as well as a bit of the canal. There was a bar just down the street that played music late. The window didn’t really block out the noise which continued till about midnight. Fortunately we play music on our ipad during sleep which drowned out most of the street noise. The bed - we’re in our late 20’s and we found the beds really hard and uncomfortable, seems to be common in Italy because our Rome hotel was the same. I asked if it was possible to get a mattress topper on there to soften it but apparently there was already one. There didn’t seem to be when I looked. If you like a hard bed it will be no problem. The breakfast starts a bit late at 7.30 and is continental so don’t expect a grand buffet. It was good enough though and we were happy. Staff were friendly all throughout, though apart from the mattress topper we didn’t really test them too much. Venice is a small city so getting around is reasonably easy, but we found this hotel to be particularly easy to get to. If the beds were a bit more comfy I would have zero hesitation in staying here again!…
