With a prime location on the Grand canal and an amazing view of the Rialto bridge, the hotel cannot be improved upon. Well, that is unless you add the personal service from Matteo, the owner and Barbara, his wife, who makes all the morning pastries. Of course, also add Alex, Oliver, and Bruno, and you have the winning team. We have stayed in many hotels around the world, and with only nine rooms, have never felt such individual attention more than this one. If the junior suite with patio on the Grand canal is available, don't miss out on it.
We've looked forward to returning to Hotel Al Ponte Antico for the past three long years, with thoughts of breakfast and apperitivi on the terrace sustaining us through much Pandemic angst. It was so worth the wait, and the impeccable, warm service, sumptuous breakfast, and gorgeous hotel remain outstanding. Complimenti to Matteo, Barbara, Gigi, Alex, Oliver, and the most simpatico night manager anywhere for maintaining the highest standard of excellence.
For whatever reason you travel to Venice, whether it’s for the food, art, history, or natural beauty, you owe it to yourself to stay at Al Ponte Antico. Owners Matteo and Barbara will welcome you as if you are family. You will be rewarded with the most important gift Venice has to offer; it’s people. My wife and I celebrated my recent retirement by staying 10 nights at the hotel. We were able to explore all of the sestieri (districts) at a leisurely pace and within a short walking distance from the hotel. Matteo, Barbara, Alex, Oliver, and Gigi were always there to provide us with insight and guidance to enhance our experience. And of course, you’ll be spoiled by the lavish breakfasts that Barbara and Matteo prepare for you daily.
Everything about this hotel is absolutely perfect! This 9 room boutique hotel is located on the grande canal in the center of it all. The terrace is spectacular… we had a bottle of Amarone as the sun set (see my pictures). Thank you Matteo, Barbara, Oliver, & Alex for the beautiful stay. Hope to see you again my friends 💜
The word "home" conjures up feelings of comfort, warmth and safety. They also happen to be some of the ways the staff at Al Ponte Antico made us feel during our stay in September 2021. We arrived to the hotel by water taxi and while it is expensive (expect to pay between 50-60 Euros for a fifteen minute ride), it was the right choice and the mark of an unforgettable trip to one of the most gorgeous places on Earth. Matteo, the owner, was waiting for us upon arrival and helped us with our bags as we disembarked on the hotel's own dock. During the check-in, it was immediately apparent why so many other travelers have raved about their experiences at Al Ponte Antico. Matteo and his team welcomed us warmly and helped us create the perfect itinerary for our 3 day stay and provided us with recommendations to experience Venice as a "local," something we try to do everywhere we travel. Our room, while on the small side, was clean and well-appointed and decorated in the traditional, regal "Venetian" style that made you feel you were traveling in time to when Venice ruled the seas. The bed was comfortable and our room faced the quiet courtyard providing a quiet environment for us to sleep soundly after long days exploring the city. Mornings were a highlight with the complimentary breakfast. It was served buffet style and included freshly baked goods prepared by Matteo's lovely, talented wife Barbara. Amazing a la carte eggs were part of the repertoire as well as expertly crafted coffee (remember capuccino only in the morning, ristretto and macchiato in the afternoon) all served on the terrace that provided the most beautiful views of the Rialto bridge and the Grand Canal. The terrace alone is worth the stay and we indulged in this luxury multiple times per day during our stay. Overall, nothing but exceptional things to say about our experience. Thank you very much to Matteo, Barbara, Gigi and the rest of the amazing staff for our unforgettable stay (which included our engagement :)). Grazie mille amici!…
