Scheduled only one day in Venice so we needed easy and close access to the train station. This location is right around the corner down an alley. Small hotel, booked 2 rooms. Hotel check in guy very nice and breakfast was the usual. My nieces room was tight for 2 people, we all got a kick out of the bathroom... More

Dear Florence, We red your review carefully and we are very sorry there where some downsides during your stay in our hotel. You booked two different kind of rooms, one with private bathroom in-suite and the other one with a private bathroom, but external (i.e. not inside of the room, but only few steps far from it). We made a... More

This hotel is located in a very convenient location close to St. Lucia train station. We stayed there for two nights. However, the condition of the room was pretty bad. It was small and dated. The paint was peeling on the walls. One side of the mattress was permanently deformed. The bathroom was very small with no complementary toiletries. The... More

We chose Hotel Florida because it's very close to Santa Lucia train station, but we found that the building is basically falling apart, even for Venetian standards. Our room needed maintenance and there was rubbish under the beds. There were no complimentary toiletries, as it is usual at this hotel level (we were told the hand soap dispenser next to... More

Despite the name, this is a typical Venetian hotel in a quiet alley, a stones throw from the station, so you can easily walk without hiring a porter or an expensive water taxi. I never heard a train in spite of location. The room was of good size for a European hotel, though our bathroom was a private one, we... More

Danger. Do not stay here unless you are physically fit! I understand that there is no room for an elevator, but they will not even provide staff to help you get your cases up two flights of narrow stairs. My husband is 70, I was afraid he'd get a heart attack!! Also the paper is peeling off the walls, and... More

Dear Madam, We red your review and we are sorry you find so uncomfortable your permanence in our property, we just would like to underline some fact : - nor in our web site or in any other on line travel agency is written we do have elevator or lift , the building is a 400 hundred year's old one... Located just about 100 meters from Santa Lucia train station, has to be the most practical location. If you are arriving at odd times or want to catch an early morning train, this hotel can save you the trouble of taking a water bus or water taxi. Its in a small lane right next to the bridge you see on... More

Hotel is in an ideal location next to the main train station. Beds very comfy and the hotel staff were lovely. Breakfast was good, freshly cooked croissants, cereal and fruit, tea and coffee. Only downside was wifi only in lobby area. Would recommend

We stayed for one night and the location was good and staff very friendly! Wifi only works in lobby. Rooms small but clean and with own bathroom. Breakfast is basic but good! After you check out they let you use the wifi and store suitcases so its a nice gesture!

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights before moving on to Lido di Jesolo. Easy to find from Guglie waterbus stop from the airport. Small cozy hotel, staff over reception very good and extremely helpful, great location besides the Venezia Santa lucia railway station and market very closely situated. Breakfast was okay, all the public transport available nearby.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
