After reading some previous reviews I was a little worried about what we were going to find but my worries were totally unnecessary. We arrived to be greeted by a smiley young man who gave us the key to room 12 on the second floor and told us that it was a superior room which we were not expecting. The...

The hotel is located 50 metres from the Rialto bridge in a narrow passage. The passage is dark and a little scary, you would not enter this in any normal European town. However, this kind of streets seems to be normal in Venice and not dangerous. The hotel's public areas were not refurbished since 1970, but the bathroom of our...

We stayed for four nights and found the location of the hotel was super. Kavinda was on the hotel reception and we found him to be be a very helpful young man. He gave us a map and explained where the main sights and attractions were in Venice. Fresh towels were provided every day. This hotel is ideal for exploring...

I didn't like the hotel. They gave us another room as those specified on booking in another building near the entrance. The window has a whole for doves I think and at night I felt the wind there, the beds were covered only by linens nothing else, nothing red or blue as the pictures on booking. Check the 4th picture...

the hotel is situated in a narrow alley close to Rialto bridge, but as you will discover narrow alleys are the norm around Venice, and is quite compact and the rooms are not big but are clean and comfortable, staff are very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be staying here again.

First of all the hotel was very difficult to find, we luckily had access to our phones so could use google maps to find it down a thin alleyway. We checked in fine and could leave our bags to go and explore Venice before our room was available at 2pm. The hotel is located right next to the Rialto bridge...

Room was so small as in impossible to even open your suitcase. Breakfast wasn't great. Was hard to find table and often there would be no food left at the buffet. Everything was red in the bedroom. Red everywhere in the bedroom.

Having read some of the reviews I had no clue what I would be walking into! First of all the staff. Overall, really pleasant and helpful. One wasn't very engaging, but wasn't rude. We were taken to our room by a gentleman who carried my bag up the stairs. We had to go though an external gate, the main door...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
