We stayed there for 3 nights (late check in first night and very early check out on the 3rd). The stuff is very friendly and nice, nothing bad to say about it. The location is perfect. 5 min walk from the train station and Piazze del Rome. Has all the essentials in close proximity. But, there are few minor inconveniences...

Things on Venice can be expensive; but the Carlton Capri was priced just right with breakfast included. If you are looking for a nice clean hotel to stay at, this is the place that is on the island and near the train station. My wife and I can to Venice for Christmas and to celebrate our annaversary. This hotel was...

I stayed with my boyfriend in (what I presumme) one of the less beautiful rooms of the hotel but it was lovely, the view was dissapointing (we had 2 windows looking into the patio) but we enjoyed the stay, the breakfast was really good and the location was perfect to get everywhere.

If you start from Piazzale Roma - remember that you have to walk to this hotel with your luggage, If you have more than we did (one backpack and one roller case each) you may need to find a porter. Also you will need a good map to find your way. Don't rely on instinct since Venice is an old...

Im not sure how this place has so many good reviews. There was nothing good about it. Its in a dark, ugly alley covered in graffiti. Garbage bins and booze bottles everywhere. Over all it is a tired hotel, it needs a major upgrade. Had to climb two flights of stairs to get to our room with luggage after getting...

While the hotel was a little hard to find in the dark (we arrived at 10pm), it was really nice. The room was quiet and clean. They had a weird configuration of a showerhead in the tub so could not really shower, but ran a nice hot bath instead. The staff was really friendly and helpful with all of our...

Small room but very clean. More than adequate breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient for arrival at bus terminal or railway station. Grand canal literally around the corner...sit there and have a drink within minutes of arrival in Venice. St Mark's square and the Rialto all walkable .

Lovely, quiet, clean hotel. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious breakfasts. Daily maid service. The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Near station and water bus stop. Around a lot of restaurants and cafes.

Hotel is very clean. Rooms a very small as is the bathroom. The Porter, cleaning and wait were exceptional. Desk clerks were just ok. Very difficult to find and the main alley way to the hotel is locked at 9:00 PM. This information was not provided upon check in, so be sure to ask for alternate routes to access the...

This is a small hotel just a block away from the Grand Canal in Venice. The room was larger than most European hotels at which we have stayed. It was modern and clean and came with a lovely balcony as well. Breakfast was included and was very good, especially the eggs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They seemed...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
