When we first arrived at the hotel we met a piccolo who carriage up to our room. We got a very nice and clean room, and we were very happy and it was way better than we expect it to be. It was a big room in the 4th floor, and it seems like it is the suite, but we...

I loved staying at the Amadeus hotel for six nights. It is in a great position five minutes from the railway station and around 20 minutes walk from St Mark's Square. The staff are all welcoming and helpful and the buffet breakfast is wonderful with a large choice of hot and cold food. Probably the best breakfast I have had...

The Amadeus is well placed in Venice, St Mark's Square a 45 minute walk through well sign-posted streets. The bedroom was really comfortable and overlooked the pretty garden. It was well serviced and quiet. It was the best 4* hotel we stayed in on holiday in Italy. the breakfasts very good with lots of fruit, Bacon and eggs and willing...

First off let me say the location was the biggest bonus. How it obtained 4 stars is beyond me. Our room overlooking Lista Spanga was mean to be a superior room...how and why? The linen was clean and bath towels changed everyday, other than that there was nothing to class is as superior. Breakfast was basic. Rooms had no tea/coffee...

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Staff where rude as well as perverted, this is not a 4 star hotel. Included breakfast was terrible. Rooms are shocking, no security, if you want to waste your money and ruin your holiday then book here

Stayed 1 night post cruise. Great location, charming hotel. Rooms were nice and clean. Bathroom was amazing. The garden was a haven with so many tourists on the main streets. I highly recommend this hotel!

Good location, 5-7 minutes walk from the bus station/train station and water taxis. Quaint, old fashioned hotel, reflecting Venice perfectly, with old fashioned consierge service. The room was a good size, for a three person party, with a small balcony. As with everything in Venice, the hotel was old but had been refurbished, tastefully, and we loved the style, which...

I have come for two days with my husband to visit Venice. Of course it is not so easy to find a good accommodation for a normal price. I have raked a last minute offer for this hotel as on the pictures it looked really great. The only positive thing was that personal was really friendly and breakfast was also...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
