We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel. Comfortable spacious room. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel staff was helpful before our stay to book the water taxi from the airport and restaurants for dinners. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a central location for Venice.

Location is detrimental in Venice, this is it. My first time in Venice I didn't understand the "water city" means you should pay attention to markers or prepare for a 45 minute walk to adjust 1 wrong turn or pay $60+ Euro for a taxi. So to the hotel....BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN LUXURY, even the breakfast buffet was luxurious (fluffiest fresh pastries...

We stayed in 2 rooms with our three kids; hotel was very comfortable and clean, with very friendly and helpful staff. The location was super, just a few minutes from S. Mark. Also the breakfast deserves a positive note. I recommend it.

We stayed her for three nights over the Easter weekend. We took a shared water taxi from the airport which was fantastic to arrive along the water to see Venice in the distance with the wind in your hair! As we were the last stop we got an added in tour around Venice dropping others off - first time I...

Friendly welcome on arrival and nothing too much trouble for the politely professional staff. The hotel was spotlessly clean, comfortable and classically decorated in Venetian style. It was only a few minutes from San Marco sq and you can download directions from the hotel telling in detail how to find them which we found invaluable. Despite being centrally located it is...

Situated a stone’s throw away from the Bridge of Sighs (so named by Lord Byron during one of his frequent trips to Venice), the Hotel Colombina arguably occupies one of the best spots in Venice… no doubt justifying the hole they burn in your wallet for a room. It has everything you’d expect from an expensive hotel – attentive staff,...

I just spent a night at this hotel with my husband and my 6 years old. The hotel's location is perfect, you are bang in the middle of the most wonderful city in the world and everything is within easy reach. The staff at the reception was very helpful and friendly. Our room was very spacious and clean. We were...

We were there in March at hotel Colombina, a nice small hotel to stay, it has a small bar. This hotel has very few rooms. We opted for the Junior Suite room was good. The size of the room was like a normal standard room. We could see the Gondola rides from the room. The location was very convenient to...

Small hotel located directly on a canal with it's own dock. Great way to start your vacation pulling up to your hotel in a water taxi. just a short walk to St. Mark's Square. Lovely free breakfast included. Great service, very helpful staff. Would recommend.

Loved this hotel. When we booked we knew we had a deluxe room with a canal view but didnt expect it to be the one with the bridge of Sighs on it! Little touches like the following day's weather forecast left in your room helped make it an enjoyable place to stay close to many of the main sights in...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
