The Colombina is centrally located in the heart of Venice, just a few steps from St. Mark’s Square. The noble Venetian palace which accommodates the hotel faces one of the world’s most famous gondola serenades canal and boasts a breath-taking view on the Bridge of Sighs and the spires of San Marco Basilica. Guests can feel the elegant Venetian atmosphere, surrounded by the quietness of the city, rocked by the serenades of the gondoliers and by all the comforts of a modern hotel situated in one of, if not the most, romantic cities in the world....Locanda Remedio is the dependance of the Colombina, it is rated 3 stars and is located in an annex building just behind the Colombina Palazzo and connected via a private Venetian courtyard.

San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Dear Guest From the “Santa Lucia” Train station in Venice you can either: 1. Catch the public water-bus “Vaporetto” number 1 or 2 right in front of the train station; it will take you to Saint Marc Square (Stop “Vallaresso”) after 40 minutes’ ride (cost 7,50 Euro per person one way). Then you have 5/10 minutes to walk with their luggage and have to cross 2 small bridges. (At the boat stop you often find porters: usually they ask around 30 Euros for 3 - 4 bags). 2. Or you could take only the private water-taxi (there is the water-taxi pier right in front of the Venice’s train station “Santa Lucia”. The price is around 80 Euro. But be sure to take a licensed (the regular one have a yellow flag with a black number write on it) insured boat and be sure that they will drop you off at our private pier otherwise refuse the service: too often they leave the Guests in San Marco Square instead of at our private water-landing and from there you have to walk for 10 minutes with your luggage through the Venetian labyrinth.... and starting the stay in Venice getting lost with the luggage is not a very nice experience.... :-). 3. Or we will be pleased to organize for you a private transfer from the train station: an assistant will meet you at the end of the platform with a sign with your name on it. The assistant will board you in the private water-taxi (already there waiting for you); you will reach our private water-landing after 20 minutes’ ride. Reaching the hotel by boat will be an unforgettable experience. The total cost of the service will be 170 Euro (porterage service not included. If you have more than 1 big bag and 1 hand bag per person there is a supplement of Euro 10. If before 8.00 a.m. or later than 9.00 p.m. there is a supplement of Euro 20). If suitable, please reconfirm us the service as soon as possible (please at least 5 days before their arrival, providing: train number_____________________________ coach number____________________________ if you know it, expected arrival time______________________ and a mobile phone number____________________ just in case your arrival platform will be very crowded thank you. Instead, for the way out to the airport, we can call a taxi the same morning and the cost would be 130.00 €. Obviously there would be also the Alilaguna service from San Marco / San Zaccaria to the airport, a public boat that takes about 1.20 hours, but it costs only 15 € each. We remain at your disposal for any further information you may need. Best Regards Mark

Dear Guest, first of all let us thank you very much for your kind preference. Following your request, of course being on high floors gives you a better view, even though all the Junior Suite Deluxe have a wonderful canal view, and especially from the ones on the 4th floor the view over the Bridge of Sighs is perfect. If you write us directly to our email address we can also give you more details and further information. Best regards Mark

If you are looking for the water bus, then ask for a vaporetto, those are much bigger and have dedicated stops, there is one in front of the train station. If you arrive by plane, you would take a conventional bus or a conventional taxi to Piazzale Roma, and then from there you can take a vaporetto. For the vaporetto, you have to purchase a ticket in advance, and validate it before boarding. Private water taxis are also available across from the train station and from the airport, but you have stated that you do not want those, they are much smaller boats. The Hotel Colombina concierge makes great restaurant recommendations.

We booked a Junior Suite with Canal View and it did have the balcony. We don’t know if there are other Junior Suites in the hotel. Hope that’s helpful. Have a lovely trip to Venice

Does the hotel have an elevator?
I can't recall whether the main hotel has an elevator or not. You'll need to check with them. If you're located in the annexe next door to the hotel then, no it doesn't. The stairs are quite steep and you need to be fit particularly if you're located the upper floors.
