our trip to venice was made so much more comfortable having stayed at this hotel… the weather was a little warm, so it was really nice coming home to a clean and comfortable room… although some parts of the hotel were being renovated, it did not hinder our comfort… we discovered the beautiful garden and boat launch in the back on our last day, our only regret was not finding it earlier… the staff and service was amazing… after staying out late on our first night, we returned to our hotel and discovered that our air conditioning was not working… the response from the staff was so professional as they quickly and seamlessly helped us move into another room… all the while making sure we were comfortable throughout the process… we were so impressed by the wonderful service on many levels, not just the room hiccup but also with the daily help navigating the busy streets, the vaporetto, and setting up the murano tour with their private boat… the murano tour was fun and informative and we never felt any pressure to purchase anything… in fact, our guide was pleasant and heard that we liked art and took us to see some of their artist collections on display… it was a treat… we would definitely stay here again…

Hotel's Favourite
Very nice 5 star hotel in the northern part of Venice. Service is excellent as is location. We stayed in the “new style” junior suite, which is one of the renovated suites - relatively spacious at roughly 50 sqm. Breakfast is a la carte (maybe because of COVID) but very well made. Hotel has a very large garden that is well kept and very charming. It’s a nice little oasis to enjoy and relax in, when relaxing after touring the sites of Venice. I’d recommend this place for both family and couples.

We booked to stay here for the bank holiday weekend and our ten year wedding anniversary. I hadn’t done a huge amount of research into hotels but this was perfect- close to the airport and to the main sights but slightly offf the beaten track so it wasn’t too touristy or busy. There are lots of lovely restaurants and bars close by and you can have breakfast on the canal which is amazing. The service was brilliant- everyone on the front desk (Andrea and Claudio) went out of their way to help us and we were given a lovely room overlooking the lagoon. The waiting staff at breakfast were all really helpful too especially as my hubby had a foot injury so was on crutches. All in all I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. There was some renovation work going on but this didn’t impact our stay at all. Thanks to all the team for a fabulous stay!

Came here for 3 nights as part of a package, our third stay in Venice. Quite a walk from the centre but a nice neighbourhood with bars & restaurants a short walk from the hotel. Hotel is an old palace, on our arrival they had a leak & water was pouring from the ceiling into reception. Obviously not their fault but not a good start. Room was ok, not what I’d call 5 star. Traditional decor, comfy bed and a good size bathroom. The concierge booked us a restaurant and was helpful. Most of the staff in the bar - where breakfast is taken - were friendly, except one guy who had a real attitude and was rude. If you walk through the gardens at the back of the hotel it leads you to the lagoon. Not publicised and a lot more could be made of this. I think they’re doing upgrades to the hotel and I’m sure it will be a much better experience, but as it is now I wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed for a weekend in early April. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were warm and welcoming, especially Martina, Claudio, Mattia and Lindy. We upgraded our room to the suite which was incredible. The breakfast was also fantastic. The hotel was undergoing some much needed renovation but if this can be ignored then it is a special experience. After the renovation I am sure the hotel will be able to offer a world class experience again.

Just back from this beautiful hotel the entrance lobby is simply stunning the reception staff were wonderful and so helpful we needed to be moved to twin bed room and this was no problem to them. The outside gardens also very pleasant the colours will be lovely in the next few weeks. The only slight problem was with a young male waiter in the breakfast room he could really avail of some interpersonal skill program another couple we talked with felt the same. We would stay here again if we came to beautiful Venice.

Great hotel, I had a great time in Venice and the hotel was excellent, there was work being carried out and the drilling started around 8.30am but it didn't ruin our experience as we were up and about by that time anyway. The staff were very friendly especially at the reception desk, they were very helpful and recommended and booked the opera for us which was brilliant, the only minor complaint I would make was, one member of staff at the breakfast was not very helpful he was the tall young man, when you asked him for anything he would tut or give attitude he was the only staff member who wasn't nice and friendly but I still give it 5 out of 5,thankyou for helping make our trip enjoyable

I deliberated on what a fair rating was, as the hotel was very gorgeous, the staff were incredibly nice, breakfast and bar were great, and the location was pleasantly quiet but not too far away. Overall easily a five star experience, but I would like to pass on a warning, hence the lower rating, about the complimentary Murano workshop tour offered by the hotel. Perhaps something lost in translation, but we had the impression that it was something set up by the hotel (complimentary implied to me a hotel service), while the water taxi + visit is likely entirely funded by the gallery you are dropped off at. Once there, we watched a brief, interesting creation of a couple glass pieces, then were guided to a gallery, where we began to be exposed to increasingly high pressure sales tactics. Prices are nebulous, salespeople intervene to limit your ability to think with any companions/look up equivalents on your phone, and they created an impression that leaving before buying was heavily discouraged (they said, multiple times, that they would call a boat for us to return to the main Murano island after we were finished). Had I known that it was the company rather than the hotel footing the bill, I would not have agreed to go as what transpired would have been more obviously foreseen--of course there is no free lunch. I do not know the nature of the relationship between the company and the hotel, but it would have been nice to have had a better idea of what it would entail beforehand. That being said, the hotel is incredible; I just suggest caution with the "complimentary" Murano trip.

It’s difficult to review this property. It’s a favorite of mine to stay at or even eat lunch (pre Covid). It’s an old grand palazzo so for sure it has scars and quirks. I can only compare “before and after” NH but of course it’s also one fire and after” COVID. Both before ans after I co wider this to be “budget friendly luxury”. Full luxury would be St Regis or Cipriani. Luxury JW Marriott (but in 2019 the absolute best breakfast in Venice!). Before: Food was really very nicely presented and of high quality. Not the absolute best but very good for the type of property. Service was friendly and amenities reasonable. For instance, shuttle boat to San Marco. Upgrades were granted without fuss when one qualified for one. Rooms seemed to be reasonably furnished and equipped. After: the food is non existent. Breakfast is very low end for European standard and all facilities are essentially closed. The staff is still quite friendly. Rooms are quirky with plumbing issues. The bedding is truly hostel style. I thought they forgot to put bedding but no, it’s just plain sheets around an army blanket. The promised upgrade through Amex was not offered nor given. The room was exactly as booked based on the photos. No shuttle. No restaurant. The garden is quaint and beautiful as always. I think it’s good value for the money, but I don’t get the feeling this property will go “above and beyond” to make one feel appreciated as a guest. That seems to have been lost since NH took over from Marriott.

Room Tip: No shuttle. Buy a daily pass to get around. Try parking at Punta Sabbioni instead of San Marco.

My mother and I stayed here on a friend's recommendation for 3 nights - it could not have been more perfect for us! The staff were hugely helpful, very kind, responsive and thoughtful - both before we arrived and when we were there. The staff on site, concierge and reception, were so patient with us and organised museum tickets and one of the best private guides we've ever had! Whilst Covid has impacted some of the services available (eg the restaurant and hotel boat/shuttle to St Mark's are not currently available), the hotel is still a wonderful place to stay - location is really great - away from the madding crowds of St Mark's but in a part of Venice that is just as important and historical, and feels so much more real... Right beside Tintoretto's parish Church and a few mins walk from his home/workshop... Our room was a duplex at the back of the hotel, at the end of the gorgeous garden - a true oasis - we were right on the water facing out to Murano and as the entrance to the hotel at the front was on a canal, access via water taxi and vaporetto was super easy... Breakfast was also really good - great choice, both hot and cold, beautifully presented and served to you... Pastries/cakes particularly good! Would definitely recommend this hotel - and look forward to returning soon!
