Loved the location. Very near to the cruise ports, and a block away from the bus station. It is a half hour walk to the San Marcos area. This location of this hotel is away from the crowds, and the restaurants/shopping in this area is quieter. Hotel has a lovely garden with tables, chairs, loungers, a nice place to have...

Excellent service and food. also well placed for visiting Venice without carrying your cases for miles as it is near the bus terminal and also near the water taxi and vaporetto stop. We would certainly return again.

This hotel is perfect to stay in Venise, just behind Piazzale Roma. The staff is always ready to help and very smiling (all of them). The garden is beautiful and very pleasant to enjoy your breakfast. The breakfast is tasty, and complete (eggs, fruits, juices, bacon, cheese...). We had a room on the 2nd floor, well decorated, very clean. The...

We stayed at this lovely hotel for two nights after our cruise. Our hotel room was beautiful and overlooked a stunning little garden. The staff was excellent, helpful and very friendly. There was an unfortunate incident outside our room between two other guests the first night, but the staff quickly and professionally moved to calm and resolve the problem and...

Our stay at The Olimpia Hotel Venice was excellent. The hotel is in a great location, close to all transport, restaurants & cafes. The staff were friendly & extremely helpful, organising taxis, tours & anything that was requested. Beautiful clean rooms and lovely breakfast for a reasonable cost. Would thoroughly recommend this stay.

Had a overnight stay here before boarding our cruse ship. The Olympia is a lovely old hotel refurbished in every detail with period furniture but having ALL the modern facilities and free Wifi. Staff were very helpful. Would stay here every time. Close to all forms of transport to get around.

We stayed at the hotel pre-cruise for 2 nights and we so pleased we did. From check in to departure, this hotel and its staff were just amazing. If you are going on a Cruise from the terminal then I don't believe you will find a better location. It was also perfectly located for arrival from the airport and for...

We were fortunate enough to be given a 3rd floor room on the corner, so had two great views of the canal. The hotel and its facilities are very modern, especially considering it's a 16th century building. The room was lovely and the staff very accommodating and seemed genuinely concerned about our well being. It's a short walk to this...

We stayed here for one night following a cruise. Location....It was very simple to get there from the cruise terminal by foot--we only needed to cross one bridge. It was also very easy to catch the shuttle to the airport the next morning. The location near Piazzale Roma makes this an excellent choice for anyone arriving by bus, train, ship...

After a Cruise or before the location is just perfect. Great front desk staff, very helpful and kind. Great room (109) that was a good size, immaculate décor and backing onto a gorgeous court yard! Stayed there 2 nights and looked forward to the amazing breakfast buffet at the Hotel, 5 Euros each and worth it! Just around the corner...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
