My friends and me decided to go on a 3 day vacation in Venice. The most important thing for choosing the place where we want to stay was a location and this place completely fills that. Close to S. Marco's square, close to bridge Rialto. Except that room was huge and cleaned and staff was very friendly. I really liked...

The room was nothing like the pictures. Our bed slat was broken even before we slept on the bed. Room was extremely pokey to the point of not being able to open the wardrobe doors. Bathroom was recently renovated and good shower pressure. Our hostess showed us our room. Organised our breakfast time however we only received 1 breakfast instead...

As already mentinoed, you need to fisrt check in at Hotel San Luca and then a nice friendly receptionist will guide you to this place which is an old interesting building. It was a mix of Air BnB and prvate homes and hotel rooms. The room and breakfast was ok with basic amenities. Location is also fine with 2 min...

Friendly man took us from Check in hotel to our room 5 min walk away. No problems. Large room and bathroom with lovely canal view. Problems: curtains don't close all the way so light gets in, breakfast was served IMMEDIATELY outside our bedroom door. No sleeping in past the start of breakfast time. Mold in the bathrooms and strong urine...

We stayed in the two-bedroom suite. It was fine, but needs some maintenance (the blind in master bedroom is very difficult to operate, and there are a few small repairs here and there needed) and more attention paid to the finer details (like inside the microwave and on top/behind the washer and dryer) when being cleaned. They make your beds...

Firstly, following booking I received an email to say that I was to check in at Hotel San Luca which is only a 5 min walk from San Marco square. I was then taken by a very polite and informative receptionist to the actual building that I would be staying in a further 5 min walk. This turned out to...

1000 year old building! Room was nice. Breakfast too basic. Needs to be improved. Special thanks to Mr Danielle who was kind enough to carry our very heavy suitcase for 10min as the hotel rooms were located in a different building from the check in place! (Good 7min walk). Mr Daniele explained with great professionalism by explaining each and everything...

The place has no reception, but they make it very clear in the confirmation e-mail. It's a difficult place to arrive if you have luggage because you have to cross 3 bridges. And there's no elevator there. But it's close to Piazza San Marco, the breakfast is good, there's air conditioning which is very important in the summer and it's...

I stayed in Casa Dolce Venezia for 4 days. It is not actually a hotel. It consists of 4 rooms situated on the 1st floor of a building. Our room was spacious and it was cleaned every day. Breakfast was adequate. Bathroom was big and comfortable, with a bath and not a shower. The greatest advantage of the hotel is...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

“Room 1 is fronting the canal. Room 2 is fronting the bridge. Rooms 3 & 4 are at the rear portion. I didn't get to see their view. I'd say, rooms 3 & 4 are probably more quite, if that's what you're looking for. :)”
