My husband and my sister in law and her husband just got back from our Italian holiday a few days ago and we stayed here. It was simply wonderful!!! We woke up to the smell of baked croissants in the morning. The breakfast was great!!! The simple coffee was great and the milk they served was not just hot milk... More

We spent a couple of nights here prior to our cruise and were very happy. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and eager to help. Our room in a newly renovated building(old on the outside and very tastefully redone on the inside) was roomy, clean and quiet. The location is perfect and breckfast included too. Would recommend

My mom and I were traveling through Italy together, with Venice being our first stop. The Bisanzio was a great start to the trip! The hotel is in an excellent location, about 5 minute walk to St Marks square. Tony and the rest of the staff at the front desk were great. All friendly and helpful. The room itself was... More

We spent three nights at this little hotel. I can't think of anything that would go against it. Location is perfect. Only a few minutes walk from San Marco, in the very heart of Venice, yet the place is located on the quiet small side street. The decor is very testful, elegant furniture, heavy drapes, beautiful mirrors and carpets. All of this makes... More

Basic rooms as are plenty in Venice, after all you do not visit Venice for the Hotel, do you, Breakfast was basic but adequate, not much of a bar area in Hotel...BUT the location is fantastic, so close to most immediate sights.

We stayed here for three nights in Nov 15. The room was lovely, very clean, couldn't fault it. The staff were very helpful on the front desk, even allowing us to borrow an travel adapter. The location was perfect, a few minutes walk from St Mark square. The breakfast was average but pleasant enough. Cannot say a bad word.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
