Were very lucky to be able to book a room with a balcony, very spacious and clean. Staff were all so helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble and their restaurant suggestions were superb. Location was great and close to transport etc. Nice breakfast as well.

We really enjoyed staying at Hotel Bisanzio. The location was right near a vaporetto stop, so easily accessible. It was also near some of the major sites. The hotel itself was clean, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke English which was a plus since we don't speak any Italian. The rooms were small, but quaint and comfortable...

In the heart of Venice, steps from Piazza San Marco, this hotel has friendly helpful staff, an extensive tasty breakfast, and offers small one-bedroom apartments near the hotel, as well as regular hotel rooms. The apartment is clean, comfortable, secure and quiet, located on a small piazza with multiple restaurants within a short walk.

This hotel is in a great location. Near St. Mark's Square. This was the only hotel on my trip that felt like I was in Italy. The view was great!. Breakfast was good and the staff was great. Sunsets were nice and within walking distance. Would stay here again on a return trip.

Stayed here as a family of 4 in the week leading up to Easter. Contacted the hotel in advance to check how to get to it from the airport & they got back to us with very clear instructions. Having requested & paid for 2 bedrooms we were given a split level appt just around the corner from the main...

The instructions on how to get to the hotel from Marco Polo airport were pretty good. When we landed at St Marks Sq and walked towards the hotel, there was a very handy marker set in the ground pointing towards the entrance down the alley. All the reception staff were extremely helpful. The hotel interior is quaint, typical Venetian building,...

Visited for our 10th wedding anniversary having done extensive TA research. We wanted something well located for St. Mark's Square etc. with a bit of character. Not too pricey and not too noisy. And a decent variety of breakfast and friendly staff. We got all of that and more. The collection of glassware in the hotel is lovely, as are...

As a family of 4 we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hotel Bisanzio. The room was perfect for our family with two bath areas and two sleeping areas. The location could not have been better by being so close to San Marco but not too close to the crowds. Finally the hotel atmosphere was a great blend of modern yet...

Really easy to get to when arriving at the san zaccaria stop from the airport, Check in was great especially as we arrived early and all three rooms were ready for us. Rooms were huge and nicely furnished with large comfy beds. Bathrooms were a bit dated but clean and functional. Easy walking distance to san marco square and with...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
