The 4-star Hotel Gabrielli, a Venetian Palazzo from the 14th century is family owned in the 5th generation. Only a few minutes walk from Saint Mark’s square, the Doge’s Palace, the Basilica of St. Mark and the Arsenale offers a fantastic location on the waterfront and excellent views on...

It is worth doing your research before arriving. We turned up at the train station but were not familiar with Venice. This resulted in us hiring a water taxi for 70 euro. This dropped us at the hotel dock. A better solution would have been...More
Great place to stay. It’s a 10 min stroll to the square. Best of all the water bus stop is a really close so no walking about with your cases. The atmosphere is old world chic. The rooms are good even if you don’t have...More
We stayed in rooms 313 and 315 in late June. Rooms had both been updated and were very clean; we had courtyard views. Elevator ran smoothly, AC worked well. Included breakfast was okay. Rooftop terrace was nice for drinks and sunset. Wifi was a bit...More
Me and my wife went to the restaurant for dinner. Everything was excellent. The food was delicious, the fish was fresh and of excellent quality. Also the service has been perfect. Luca, the maitre, took care of us with great professionalism. We were lucky enough...More
This is a great hotel for staying in Venice. Staff are friendly, the room’s are lovely and it’s right beside St. Mark’s Square. Ideally located next to water bus stops too. I loved the Sky Bar for a little aperitif in the evening. Well worth...More
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
