We're happy staying at the hotel. Not too close to the crowded area but in a short distance walking to the market. Also near the pier. As this is family run business hotel, room might not so new but it was properly well cleaned. We love cozy mode of the room. You can take good photo of Venice view of...

My favourite location, the view from our room (we paid extra for a lagoon room) was fabulous - hard to see how it could have been any better! Also incredibly convenient for catching the waterbus to the airport, and very handy for St Marks Square. Would definitely return to this hotel and would be happy to recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful hotel, really charming and represents Venice as authentic as no other hotel within Venice. Highly recommendable for every kind of person. Staff is very helpful. Service as well! The hotel is in good shape, very clean!

A nice hotel, medium sized, well situated. May be not a real four stars but worthwile. Pluses: the situation ,large rooms, a decent breakfest, beautiful Murano lights, good beds, an amiable staff. Minuses:no tea coffee set (and no option of a kettle even with charge),no vegetables for breakfest but only tomatos (but a nice choice of fruits, fresh or canned),only one...

It’s hard to decide which part of our Hotel Gabrielli experience was worse. It may have been the complete indifference to our discomfort on the part of the hotel manager. It may have been the fact that promised amenities weren’t available. Probably, though, more than anything it was the heat. On our first night at the hotel we noticed that...

Staff were fantastic. Disappointed in standard double room which was too basic for a 4 star hotel. Thought I was getting the standard double as shown in photos on trip advisor which was the superior double apparently. Room too basic for amount paid and in need of updating. Couldn't just have bedside light on and tried every combination with lights....

In the main, this was a pleasant stay. The view over the Venusian Laguna was amazing, the drawback was the noise all night from street activities and boats bumping. It was very hot for our stay and although the hotel website says all rooms air conditioned, the owner had turned the system off?!?! I had also booked a suite with...

Just returned from 4 night stay. Our room was facing the lagoon with a little balcony. A lovely room, but full on busy all day outside with tourists coming and going by boat. It quietens down by 9pm and begins again at 7.30am. The doors are good at keeping the sound out. But rooms at the front of the hotel...

We arrived via water taxi right up to the side door. Very cool. Room with lovely Murano chandelier faced the waterfront with great views. But keep in mind that when you face the front, you also have street noise. Location was very accessible to all the sights. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices and began early. Rooftop was a great...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
