My Girlfriend and I stayed here for just a Two night stay in April 2010. Ive stayed in many hotels over Italy and this has been the best I spent £150 per night and as far as I could find all the other hotels in this bracket were no where near up to this standard. The rooms were excellent, clean...

Loved this hotel. It was clean. Our room was spotless, spacious, modern and we were upgraded to a room with a canal view. The bed was sensational as were the pillows. The bathroom was also spacious and we had ample luggage and wardrobe room. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were exceptionally helpful and obliging. Internet access was a little expensive...

Extremely disappointed with our five day stay in a superior room. Air conditioning not working in the room at 26 degrees C. Reception told us to open the windows which resulted in being attacked each night by mosquitos. No milk in the room to make tea or coffee. Refrigerator light works but no cooling. Rooms not made up on some...

The hotel is a chain, and rather lacking in Venetian, or even Italian, touches. Rooms are small: ours was supposed to be for 3 adults but was a regular (small) double with an extra bed, so we couldn't even open the windows without moving furniture. It was well decorated and generally well appointed (except no milk for coffee) with fantastically...

After waiting a lifetime to visit Venice I was nervous about choosing a hotel. I am very happy I chose this hotel. We were in Venice for our honeymoon. The room was fantastic. We had a nice view of the canal below. The room was sharp and the bathroom was comfortable. The staff was very helpful and polite. Another plus...

We stayed with a teenage daughter for 2 nights the end of March. The hotel was very hard to find as the addresses in Venice don't make much sense and there are very small signs at street level indicating the hotel. We ended up stopping at a nearby store to get directions. However we were greeted with an upgrade to...

We could not fault our superior room booked through ebookers at the last minute. We stayed 3 nights and in a busy city enjoyed 3 nights peaceful sleep in a huge bed made up with beautifully soft white sheets and the most comfortable pillows I have ever found in a hotel anywhere. The bathroom was perfect with a superb shower...

We loved this hotel. It is located along a small canal, half way between the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square. We had a Jr. Suite which had a comfortably sized bed room, sitting room and bathroom with a shower/tub combination. The entire suite was nicely done. There were two English speaking channels on the TV's for anyone that needed...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The Splendid Venice hotel is based in the historic centre of Venice, with the city's must-see sights and hidden treasures all within your reach. Just a short stroll or gondola ride will take you to Venice's most iconic sights: San Marco square and the Rialto Bridge. Like the city itself, our 165 rooms and suites are a mixture of styles, but all capture the essence of a romantic Venice holiday. Blending contemporary comforts with details that reflect classic Venetian character, each room has a light, elegant atmosphere, with many offering wonderful views over canals and the Venice skyline with its magnificent San Marco's bell tower in the horizon. Le Maschere at the Splendid Venice is one of the few restaurants near San Marco Square that is popular with Venetians and tourists alike.
