Stayed here 3 nights in May. Location is great, on the Grand Canal! Right next to St. Marks square, water taxi's and many other attractions. Also lots of restaurants, bars and cafe's within walking distance. The hotel is a few alleys away from the main street which makes it nice and quiet. We took a private water taxi from the...

We were here for 3 nights for our honeymoon and it turned out to be our favorite place of the 5 we visited! We were given an amazing room that was huge with a private deck that had table and chairs as well as chaise lounges where we would sit each evening with a glass of wine and just take...

Not at all what we were expecting from this hotel Although the room had a balcony thank goodness so we could have some outside space The room was not made up one day ! The prices were astronomical - €20 for a mojito Don't have anything from the bar , find a supermarket for snacks n drinks The food left...

First time in Venice and chose this hotel for it's location and that we got. The property faces the Grand Canal with an entrance down a winding set of streets. A water taxi from the airport is such easier than the boat. Style and service is typical European well trained staff. Our room was on the backside of the hotel...

I booked two award rooms for two nights each and according to Starwood and the hotel website I had to use additional points to book a non smoking room. Upon check in I learned that the hotel is completely smoke free. I find it unacceptable that the hotel wants you to pay for a double upgrade for a non smoking...

Ah Venice, being my second trip here I was prepared for the beautiful city and being a Starwood Preferred Member I was familiar with the Westin chain of properties. The city although aging, didn't disappoint the Westin not so much. I was aware that space on the cramped island was tight and not to expect the spacious accommodations I received...

We enjoyed our stay. All was clean and quiet and everything worked properly. We were in the Deluxe room and had no view, but the room was nice and came with free wifi. The hotel is a little hard to find, but if you have trouble, it is very near the Bauer Hotel, and everyone knows where that is. This...

Spent three nights here the last weekend of Oct. Only had one issue. Our accommodation was the premier deluxe double; spacious and set back from the canal, (set back from the canal was an upgrade, but the room was still not renovated); had a good sized bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The lobby is beautiful, and the service was...

This is a wonderful hotel located right on the Grand Canal and within minutes of a main shopping area. The service is excellent. We very much enjoyed breakfast overlooking the canal and were upgraded. For its price this hotel is superb. The quality is luxury, the price "mid-range." Water taxis pull up right to the hotel docking.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
