This hotel was charming and so very centrally located. It is a 5 minute walk to the train station as well as the square where all the road buses and taxis are. Thus it is very easy to get a taxi or bus to the airport. The hotel was charming and the staff friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable with windows overlooking a canal. Breakfast was good with a variety of food. The hotel is small and in an older building. No USB ports so non- EU travelers need to remember their converters. A few suggestions for the hotel. 1. Add safety locks to the doors. While it may be too expensive to add deadbolts or electronic locks to the door, adding the swinging security locks to the doors should not be that costly. 2. Allow for the phone to call the front desk. 3. Get a TV subscription that includes some English speaking channels.…
We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Gardena. We’d recommend it to any of our friends who are visiting Venice for the first time. It’s a 5-minute stroll from the Garage Communale, but just far enough in from the perimeter of the old town to be in ‘proper’ Venice. You’re going to walk everywhere anyway so bring your walking boots. 20 minutes to the Rialto Bridge, 30 to St Mark’s Square. We had room 304, overlooking the canal. Spacious room, nice bathroom. Light and airy. Breakfast is substantial and the Front Desk staff are pleasant and helpful. Recommended.
We chose the Gardena because of our late arrival into Venice. In the event it was a very short walk - no more than 5 minutes - from Piazzale Roma and finding the hotel was easy. Very friendly welcome at the reception. Although the ground floor public rooms (apart from the breakfast room) are large and lavish, classic rooms are very small, and we would not recommend the hotel for a long stay. Nonetheless, the room was well furnished, quiet, warm and we had a good sleep. The bathroom was modern and clean, although water pressure was low. Breakfast on the ground floor was good, but in a room with very closely-spaced tables. Again friendly and helpful service. We would recommend this hotel if you need somewhere close to transport links at the beginning or end of your stay.
This was our 2nd visit to Venice. Last time we stayed in the Marriott on one of the islands and paid 300£ a night. Bit have always wanted to come back and stay in town with a canal view. Hotel Gardena is not luxury. It is a simple 3 star with a rather quirky oldfashioned interior but at 130£ a night for a large room with a view and breakfast included, I am not going to complain. I think the price reflects the challenges faced by Covid but it was great for the tourists who were there. We stayed in room 304, superior room with canal view. I would not advice the back rooms and definitely not the ones on the ground floor unless you are happy with the rates there. Staff are friendly Breakfast is very good Loved the location, 5 minutes from St Lucia but away from the seediness of the station area Lots of cool bars nearby and close to the most stunning church San Pantaleone. We had great stay…
I'll make the review pretty simple. 1. Nice clean room 2. Extremely friendly and helpful staffs. The lady who checked us in was extremely patient and shared with us what to watch out for due to the flooding. 3. Breakfast spread was good and the lady serving us was attentive and welcoming. Overall, if you are considering this hotel, book with confidence. Oh, location is fantastic too. Just a short walk from the main train station and there is Coop nearby where you can get some groceries and what not.
