The best thing about this hotel is its location. I loved that you had to walk down alleyways to find it and unless you were heading to this hotel you'd have no reason to walk that way, it really was a hidden gem with a wonderful traditional italian feel to it. We stayed in a room overlooking the canal and...

It is placed at three stops from train station. From the stop to the hotel it takes 2min and only two bridges. All this is great! The room eas perfectly clean and cosy. I did not lime the tipical venetian tourist stile, but it as neat and tidy. Breakfas was pretty good. But the best part is to have it...

We (me, wife and 20 months old son) were here in April 2012. The hotel is a nice old building located in the S.Croce quarter on the Canal Grande, not far from the Rialto bridge. We had one of the rooms on the ground floor, which was large but with low ceiling and dimly lit (it was facing the opposite...

Completely worth every penny and the other 6 people with me would attest to this. Everything was top class. Breakfast, rooms, staff, location - name it! It's on the water, there's a taxi station for the hotel (not every hotel has this! :) ). What a gorgeous location. Fantastic rooms with superb chandeliers and good bathrooms with a tub and...

Needed to find accommodation for 1 night and via the Internet found a room for 72 EUR. It's a wonderful hotel overlooking the Grand Canal and situated close to the fish market, shops and Rialto Bridge. A decent buffet breakfast is served and if you're an early riser secure yourself a table for two on the terrace and follow the...

I stayed just one night over the Carnevale period in 2012. I made the booking for a single room a few months prior, paying around EU130. My friend was not so lucky and paid over EU200 just a week later, so it pays to book ahead! The hotel is fairly hard to locate initially, but easy once you've been there...

My wife and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary weekend in December, and we loved every minute of it. It's within a short walking distance of the San Stae vaporetto stop and the Rialto Bridge. It's decorated in typical elegant Venetian style, with spacious clean bedrooms and big comfortable beds. The breakfast is great and the staff very friendly...

The hotel has a lot of old world charm. It is on the Grand Canal in a convenient location to the vaporetto and the Rialto Bridge. The breakfast had an excellent selection of food choices, including an American breakfast. The beds were very comfortable and the triple bedroom that we had on the third floor was very large by European...

I went with my three sisters and we had a superior room with 4 twin beds. This turned out to be 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor overlooking the courtyard. Its an old building with loads of character. The rooms weren't overly large but they were clean and comfortable, warm and with wonderful large windows. The staff...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
