After years of staying at the Gritti, Monaco and Bauer I overnighted at the legendary Cipriani Hotel yesterday. The cuisine and bed were wonderful - but I found the rooms lack softness and warmth. There was no soap in my bathroom and given the class of hotel I was surprised that there was no pressing service on Saturday night -...

On a recent tour of Italy, my wife and I stayed at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani for the Venice portion of our trip. It was the first of three Belmond properties in which we stayed as part of their Italy package. Set apart from the bustle of the main tourist areas but only a free shuttle boat away from St....

This was a truly excellent hotel. The quiet, peaceful location is perfect - the hotel's motor boats will quickly take you St. Mark's, but it is wonderful to be away from the crowded streets of Venice. The hotel's property is like an oasis - the gardens are large and well-manicured, the pool is beautiful and well-kept, and the choice of...

I've been for 2 days for business and happy that had a chance to stay in this hotel. Pool view with terrace and bell rang from the st Marco makes an amazing feeling in the mornings and evenings. Pool with the pictures-very original idea. All restaurants are great and high-leveled. Would be happy to stay there again:)

I do not think the Cipriani needs another glowing review, but here it goes. This was truly an experience that will always stay with us. This was our first trip to Venice and we were not prepared for the crowds in the centre this time of year, but the Cipriani was a wonderful oasis away from it all. A slice...

We stayed for the final five nights of our Belmond Italian 'Grand Tour' and found this hotel to be beautiful and elegant with the highest levels of service we have experienced anywhere. We were greeted graciously and charmingly by Roberto (and his tortoise Roberta) and from that moment on, we felt like guests in a calm and beautiful oasis a...

This is a beautiful hotel located on an island just off Venice. There is a boat shuttle service that will take you there whenever you like. It takes you to their private dock off St Mark's Square where there is a phone that you call when you want to go back to the hotel. It takes about five minutes for...

Had a wonderful 2 night stay in this beautiful hotel that is perfectly situated for reaching St Mark's by the hotels own regular, complimentary shuttle launch. Our room was overlooking the garden which was so relaxing and peaceful especially after the busy hub of St Mark's. Wish we could have stayed longer to relax and swim in the heated outdoor...

We arrived here unplanned and stayed for lunch in the bar. Yes it's expensive but if you didn't know that until the bill arrived you have been less than smart. The food was excellent and the wine superb and still cheaper than equivalent Hotels in say Mayfair in London. The service is classy and the setting gorgeous. It makes for...

Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If Venice is a theatre, Belmond Hotel Cipriani is the Royal Box. It is a resort: a way of life, an island apart, in every sense. And it involves all the senses that make a stay unforgettable. Five minutes by private launch from St. Mark’s Square, on the tip of the Giudecca Island, Belmond Hotel Cipriani is in the heart of the city but removed from its hustle and bustle. Its 95 rooms and suites are exquisitely decorated with magnificent views over the open lagoon, the gardens and St. Marks. A day here is made up of layers of wonderful experiences, from luxuriating beside the Olympic-size swimming pool (the only one in central Venice) to relaxing with a signature treatment at the Casanova Wellness Centre. The Casanova gardens offer an oasis of peace, perfect for a Thai Chi session before heading off with a private boat for a personalised excursion in the lagoon. Choose to dine at the new Oro Restaurant for a timeless dining experience or at the iconic Cip’s Club admiring the view on St. Mark’s. Sip a signature cocktail at the Gabbiano Bar or enjoy a light lunch at the Porticciolo Restaurant. A red-clay tennis court, a gym and dedicated Kids' Club with pool are also available. ... more   less
