What a wonderful find! This hotel is almost like having your own apartment in the city. It was perfect for our stay and Fabio is wonderful! There are only two rooms, we were in the room on the left which was perfect. TONS of light in the morning through the huge windows overlooking the canals. I would recommend this place...

We were pleasantly surprised with how nice this BnB is! Got a little lost finding it but like the other reviews, Fabio was waiting for us calling outside the window. He helped us bring up our luggage. The place was very clean. We got the front bedroom with the canal view. Even though we were the only visitors thwre beware...

We stayed in a small appartment offered as the B&B was fully booked. It was located in the rear of the building. It was well worth the price we paid. Not cheap I might add but it had everything we needed including towels, washing up supplies, a microwave and a TV. It was very clean and well presented. The only...

Stayed here for 3 nights, near to St Marks and walkable to Ospedale ferry stop of coming from the airport on the water bus. On a quiet street, would recommend clear directions before you try and find - v easy to get lost in Venice. Breakfast was basic with packaged breads and some toast but if you need anything else...

For our stay we had a lovely room (gorgeous high ceilings!) overlooking the canal outside. I would recommend you request a canal room in a heartbeat. Easy walk to the main square however off the beaten path enough that it's quiet. Market a minute down the road (Necessary if you want fresh fruit for breakfast). The breakfast was very basic,...

We were surprised to see that this BB was a small room with very basic decoration. We had imagined it differently. However our stay was good. The bed was a little bit to hard for our taste and were two beds separated combined with a string. The shower was nice and clean but had a very small showerhead and therefor...

We loved our stay. Fabio and his father are lovely people. Our room was bright and fresh with high ceilings. We had view of a canal from our room through each window. There is a church directly across the bridge. The grand canal only a few minutes away. Our bathroom was very modern as was our room. Other reviewers have...

We were surprised that this was merely a flat that had been made into a B & B but had a lovely stay. Our room included a private, but separate bath. I'm not sure, but I think the others had a shared, separate bath. The view out of our window was classic Venice. It's close to St. Mark's and major...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
