Tiepolo apartment was so perfect. Great living area, beautiful bathroom, spacious bedroom. It was super comfortable for two people. It was a 10-15 minute walk to Rialto, San Marco. I dont think that I would have preferred to stay closer, especially during the summer (crowds). There are several restaurant near by as well as the grocery store (Coop). Our kitchen...

I found Venice a bit disappointing. For all it's importance in human history it's really tough to get beneath the superficial tourist facade. Felt a bit like the Venice exhibit at Las Vegas or Disneyland. With that said, we were happy with our hotel (considering what else was on offer). Staff were friendly and our room was really elegant (kinda...

The hotel was fantastic. The staff were very nice and helpful, the room was clean and very well decorated (really tasteful) and the breakfast was perfect. The location for us was perfect. <10min walk from the train station and about 25min walk to Saint Mark's Square. 25min may sound too far away but we thought it was the right distance...

This was my boyfriends and I first stay in Venice and it was beautiful. We stayed in this hotel for one night, we had the Anex suite which was not inside the main entrance of the hotel but a few doors down inside a small courtyard. Our room consisted of a kitchen/living area, a double bathroom and a queen sized...

for a first time traveler to venice the hotel was a bit difficult to find thanks to a maze like structure of the streets . but once you know the place pretty easy to go around. some directions would certainly help, the once on the website don't really help much. its close to santa lucia railway station but you might...

We had a very pleasant stay at this lovely hotel. The hotel was located in a quiet area but very convenient to access to the main attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room and other areas in the hotel were spotless clean. The interior was tastefully decorated in a classy Venetian style. The chandeliers, draperies, mirror frames,...

Just returned from 2 nights in this hotel. We stayed in room 104 which was a family suite. The hotel is absolutely stunning, very clean and feels like complete luxury! It's not out of the way as others have suggested, it's a 20min walk to the square and the walk is lovely. The staff are fantastic and made us feel...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
