Stayed for a weekend city break. Room was basic yet clean and proved to be more than perfectly adequate for such a short stay. The bathroom was shared however never had to wait and was always found in a cleanly condition. Location was excellent, right...More
I initially chose Casa Favaretto due to its cheap price and central location and I was suitably satisfied with my choice! This hotel offered exactly what we needed and it proved to be a gem for finding reasonably priced restaurants for our evening meal and...More

Really clean rooms, and fantastic location. Close walk to everything and right on the water. Restaurants close by which was handy for us during a thunderstorm. It gets a bit hot in August with no air conditioning but there was a fan.
Casa favaretto is located just outside the noisy streets you would experience two bridges closer to Marcusplass, yet it is only a short walk of 10 minutes.
The rooms are clean and comfy. The staff where really helpful explaining the way in advance.

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
