Good location, outside hotel is tired looking. Rooms very nicely decorated. Our room tucked away on first floor across elevator and staircase, you can hear everyone go up stairs or talk while waiting for elevator. Room backed on to an alley, the locals use at night when they are returning from work, constant conversation in rapid Italian. The room above...

This was the perfect hotel. Near the train station so we could roll our bags (get a footman for the bridges if your bags are too big). It's tucked out of the way of the crowds and has a beautiful waterfront area. Lots of space outside the hotel and a quaint, smaller deck on the canal in the front. Our...

We absolutely loved this hotel, the room was stunning, a little small but we expected that from the reviews and you don't spend a lot of time in there anyway. We found the location perfect, I was 6 months pregnant when we visited so we were worried about all the walking, it's about 30 minutes walk from the main square,...

The location of his hotel is excellent, the staff were excellent, the rooms were excellent, breakfast was excellent.. this is a wonderful hotel to stay whilst visiting the amazing Venice. Highly recommended. Spent four nights at this charming hotel; well worth staying here - the beds were so comfortable and need it after a day of walking around the canals...

Having stayed at this hotel twice before, I had extremely high hopes for this trip and again it did not disappoint. All of the staff went above and beyond every day to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Since we were traveling for our 10th wedding anniversary, I upgraded us to a canal view suite. Having the extra room was...

This hotel located right on the canal in Santa Croce was a dream. If house and garden was available in the renaissance this would be in the front cover. Oh so very elegant and the lovely lady at the desk was so very gracious. Our bags had not arrived from the airport and we had an eleven day cruise ahead...

The hotel has a lot of charm and is pretty will maintained. The location is incredible - across the Grand Canal from the train station. The breakfast was pretty good, and the people who work there are super nice. The only negatives were: our junior suite was super, duper small. It's always a challenge traveling with 2 children, but there...

Dear Mrs. Aeron N., we thank you very much for your nice review and we really hope to welcome you back in the future! We do apologize for the restaurant which was not open, we normally book the restaurants by phone (this way we are sure that they are open) but probably we did not book you and that's why...

It was our first trip to Venice and I could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we were greeted, it felt as warm as home, with all the service one would expect of a fine hotel. The location was perfect, the room was elegant yet comfortable, and I would definitely stay there again.

I really love this hotel....we stayed here in 2011 and again Nov 2016. I have to say the service is really excellent...everyone was so helpful and welcoming. We had a tiny glitch and they bent over backwards to remedy the problem. We aren't demanding people...too much attention makes us uncomfortable. The staff here is the best ! The rooms...clean and...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
