We stayed at the Residence Palazzo Odoni in Venice early June and it was every thing we expected it to be. A short walk from the main train station, crossing one large bridge and one small bridge and not a real chore, we arrived an hour before normal check in time, but our room was ready and we were ably...

We recently had a wonderful stay at the Residence Palazzo Odoni in Venice. Our host Michele was there to meet us, was very polite and helped us with our bags. Our party of 3 stayed in the Tiziano apartment. It is very spacious, has a nice small kitchen, great AC, and ample seating areas. The apartment's main sitting and dining...

We had a lovely stay at Residence Odoni. Gorgeous rooms and ideal location because not far from the bus and railway stations. Santa Croce is a beautiful area - away from the busy tourist areas but not too far away. Beds were very comfortable and clean rooms. We will be back!

We stayed at Palazzo Odoni for 2 nights. The hotel was nice and clean and met all our expectations: it was close to the piazza Roma and very convenient for transportation within the city and from/to the airport. The room was spacious and comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids. They say in the website no room in the room...

We met our friends outside the apartment, "buzzed" the door to enter and into the covered area and courtyard. We were met by Michel who helped bring a couple bags up the stairs. There are a couple sets of stairs, so get ready to work your legs. My husband and I had reserved the larger apartment with sitting area and...

I was concerned how expensive I had heard staying on the Venice Island could be. I found this place and thought the price was very good for our family of 5. I was not expecting too much. I was very pleasantly surprised when I turned up to find the owner Michele there as promised to hand over keys. He even...

We stayed here for our honeymoon for a week. Prior to arriving, we received emails from Michele asking us to confirm travel arrangements and also to confirm that he was upgrading us to the Honeymoon Suite which overlooked the canal from two windows. Upon arrival, Michele was there to greet us and took us to our room. The room had...

We had a very pleasant 4 night stay here. The bed is comfortable, the flat extremely quiet and has everything you could need. The Wi-fi works well. The bathroom and the kitchen area, although slightly shabby, are adequate and clean. There is daily maid service and Michele, the owner, is very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent - near...

Generous apartments with kitchen and dining & living room. The staff and owners of this hotel are wonderful. It is a short walk from the car rental, bus, and train drop off point. It is also close to Venice's version of the metro, be sure to get a card so you can jump off and on the boats as you...

My wife and I stayed in the Caravaggio apartment which was absolutely PERFECT for us, very spacious, huge bedroom, living area and cooking facilities- which you'll be crazy to use due to the fine food available to you in Venice! Not too close to the hustle and bustle but close enough. Some excellent eatery's and the fabulous Cantina Arnaldi are...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
