It is an old hotel, it has a lot of traditional design features, fabric wall finish, runner stair carpet, period fixtures and fittings, but although a bit long in the tooth the towels an bed linen are immaculate, breakfast was good quality and ample, and the staff were excellent. When we left we found out it’s under new management, we had already discussed going back and the staff attitude was so good we will. Venice is a fantastic City, no cars just walk and boat, so refurbing a place is difficult but these guys I’m sure over the coming months and years post covid will put the finishing touches to a characterful hotel
I stayed in room 117 on April 27-28. The hotel is very conveniently located, close to the train train station. But this is about the only positive thing I can say, unfortunately. First impression: My window was almost entirely blocked on the outside by a huge ventilation shaft. The room was quite hot and the air coming out of the AC was even hotter. I wasn't really able to turn the temperature down. There was a welcome note in the room, but it was addressed to a different name. Granted, such mistakes can happen and this is not the real reason I am unsatisfied with my experience at the hotel. The reason is that in my second night I was bit by bed bugs. My arms were showing the typical pattern of aligned bites (see pictures attached to this review). I told the receptionist in the morning and showed him my arm. He briefly thanked me and said that they would look into it, then went back to studying the files he had in front of him without another word. I left my luggage at the reception and left for my meetings in the city. When I came back in the evening, I asked the evening receptionist (another person) if they had checked the room for bugs. At first, he misunderstood me, thinking that I had left something behind in the room, and told me that the room was already occupied by another guest. I repeated my question and made it clear that it was about the bugs. Showed him my arm again. He wasn't aware of the conversation I had with his colleague in the morning and wasn't aware that such an issue had been flagged. I understand that bed bugs can appear in places with many people coming and going and this is not the issue. The issue is that the hotel staff/management didn't seem to care and this bears the risk that the infestation spreads to other rooms and is possibly taken to other places by unknowing guests.…
Think of the worst hotel and x that by 100. - Extremely dated and uncared for . Shower is basically a hose attached to a tap which you have to hold to shower. The shower curtain was extremely mouldy . The room was tiny and decor would have been considered outdated in the 1950s. The room was cleaned daily - but you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!!! As others have said the a positive was it’s location - only 5 minute walks from trains and bus station, and great view is the canal . The staff were friendly and helpful . We cannot really comment on the quality of breakfast as our itinerary clashed with the 8- 10 serving time so ate out.
This was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. Only stayed here because the group I was with booked us here. The room was disgusting, not clean mold in room and bathroom. The shower was gross you couldn't even bend over it was so small. Half the time there was no hot water. The internet was not so great either. The breakfast was terrible only thing good about it was the hot tea.
My room was clean, quiet and warm with big, openable windows as well as shutters, and a view over the garden, with just enough space to put down a yoga mat and do some exercise. Bed was comfortable and water pressure was ok. I'd have preferred a glass rather than the plastic cups provided. Wi-fi in the room was a bit unstable - though that was almost certainly related to its relatively tucked-away position in the hotel - and I recommended they get a signal booster, though in reception it was fine with tables there to work at. There was plenty of food for breakfast, though no fresh fruit or vegetables. The breakfast rooms were light with big windows. Staff were efficient and courteous, and most of them were fairly friendly. There were plenty of reminders around about the necessity to wear masks. After checking out I left luggage there during the day before my train left in the afternoon, and one small bag containing valuables was able to be locked in the office. I'd definitely stay again, especially due to its location directly across the canal from St Lucia railway station - only one bridge and a short distance to transport your suitcase over.…
!!! SCAM SCAM SCAM !!!! Because this hotel is big scam. Pictures are too old. Rooms are dirty, shower bath is not white, is yellow. It's unhealthy. No air-condition in room. Rooms windows are looking in junkyard. Rooms are falling apart. Everything is old and dirty. We change hotel after 10 minutes. This hotel is ranked with 3* but is wort only 1*. May he had 3* in 1947. I want my money back because they trick me with old photo and they are laying about star rating. Of course they did give us back our money and tourist tax. I was traveling with my wife and 11 old son.
We stayed there 3 nights. Nice accommodation. Nice service at breakfast. And also there was a very nice and helpful lady at the reception. Her name was Antonella. Thank wery much! We are looking forward to return.
My husband and I have just come back from staying here for a week. Considering the price we paid we were very disappointed to say the least! The hotel from the outside looked really run down, and the inside wasn’t much better! The reception area was very dark, and not very welcoming, and the bedrooms were just really old, smelled really old, like an old stately home that had not been opened in years and it had a very general stale “old” smell to the place. The wardrobes weren’t the best, and there was only 4 coat hangers in it which for the two of us was nowhere near enough...so if you plan to stay here bring your own! The beds were comfortable enough but the rooms were cold and we couldn’t get the heating working in the room and the heated towel rails in the bathroom didn’t work until our last day there! The wi-fi did not work either, the password didn’t work and despite us questioning it and being told it was the correct one we had no WiFi all week! When having a shower make sure you have 10 minutes spare to wait as this was the time it took for the water to get hot in the morning, and if you plan to have a shower in the evening you will be having a cold one as there seemed to be no hot water in the afternoon/evening which was disappointing. The breakfast was a continental one but was extremely disappointing. Bread rolls, ham and cheese and cake and croissants, but of very cheap basic quality! If you like basic “hostel” type food you will be ok here although I have eaten better in a hostel! Don’t expect luxury because you won’t get it here! The hotel had a bar but there was no-where you could have sat in comfort to have a drink, so we went elsewhere every evening! The only good thing about this accommodation is that it was less than 10 minute walk to the train station, bus station and the water bus stops...but other than that it had nothing going for it! Even the staff weren’t really that friendly. They had a job to do but interacting with their customers clearly wasn’t their main priority. If all you want is BASIC accommodation then this is the place for you but if you are like me and like a little luxury from your accommodation DO NOT book in here! …
Stayed 4 nights at This hotel. We booked 2 rooms overlooking Canal Grande. The view was amazing, rooms had a beautiful furniture, and mini bar services. The continental breakfast was included in the rate. The rooms have been cleaned daily. It was nice and hot inside. From the moment we came in, we left our luggage and the receptionist showed us a map of the city. The hotel is very close to the bus station and also to the city centre. It needs some refurbishment. The facade of the hotel looks deteriorated, but inside it looks much better. Can’t complain for the price we paid. Do recommend if you want to stay somewhere cheap, but sill have all the facilities needed.
A lovely hotel overlooking the Grand Canal. It is the ideal base for any stay in Venice. Only a 5 minute walk from the bus/train station. (Which has direct transfers from Marco Polo / Treviso Airport for $8. We paid a little extra around 9 euros a night for the canal view, which was stunning. The rooms are nicely sized and have everything you could need. Mini bar, TV, Hair Dryer etc. We had breakfast each morning and as we had an early flight on our last day the kind man in the hotel even gave us a bag of breakfast to eat on the plane. As said above the hotel mini bar is very reasonably priced, probably the same price as buying at a supermarket. St Marks Square / Rialto Bridge was around a 20 minute walk away. The entire of Venice has loads of lovely bars and restaurants around every little corner. There is a water bus stop opposite the hotel, take a trip to Lido if you have time, it has a beautiful beach and a lovely seaside town if you want a day of relaxing away from the busy streets of Venice.…
