Nice, small hotel. Close to everything and the water taxi. Hotel staff was friendly. Breakfast was included with our rate. Dining room was small but it was never an issue being able to sit down. Standard breakfast choices, plus fresh made waffles and coffee/cappuccino upon request. There is a lounge on the 2nd floor that seems to be opened in...

We stayed in the Paruta apartments, about 50m from the main hotel in the opposite corner of the Campo St Angelo. Our apartment was a great size for Venice, with a kitchen, two bedrooms and shower room, so easily accommodating our group of two adults and two teenage children. The location could not be better, between the Accademia and St...

We stayed here for 2 nights. That hotel is small and really quiet, which is a great relief after the hustle and bustle of a day walking around .We were given a ground floor room which was beautifully decorated but was very small and the Windows look out onto the courtyard where guests can sit and relax. This made me...

I stayed at the Paruta two years ago with my father during our trip through Italy and France. Now, I stayed here for the second time, this time with my mother. As it was two years ago, the location was perfect - a quiet campo about a 4 minute walk from the vaporetto stop, and far enough away from the...

Tucked away in a small corner of the Campo San Angelo, this lovely hotel in a historic palazzo gives the visitor a glimpse of what living elegantly in this city was like in its glory period. Sitting at breakfast in the gracious, high-ceilinged hall with those huge Venice-glass chandeliers and large windows overlooking a rio (small canal) puts you miles...

We stayed here for three nights and booked a standard room. We were initially disappointed as the 'standard' room was very small, Storage was limited and we could only find one electric socket. I did raise my concerns and was informed that the hotel was full but we could be moved on our last night to a superior room. I...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our experience. A hotel a little away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco but on a lovely canal in S. Angelo Piazza. Great service, lovely room and reasonably priced. Would recommend and definitely stay here on our next visit to Venice.

Brilliant hotel in the heart of venice, short walk to Marco square, and rialto, all sights you want to see. Can be a little hard to find, but once youve found it you dont forget it again. Rooms were traditional venetian rooms, beds super comfy and spacious, clean, afternoon tea, breakfast all of fabulous quality. Really made us feel welcome...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
