This hotel is situated down a small alley riddled with urine and rubbish, also if you are following the hotels website directions they forget to mention the final detail; .......then take the first calle (street) on the left, after this they fail to mention you need to then take the next right turn and you will then see the hotel...

I have got to say, we had a bad experience in Florence where the attitude to tourists was appalling and we were treated very badly. When coming to Venice I was anticipating more of the same. Well was I very pleasantly proven wrong. We were very lucky to get an upgrade and had a room looking onto the canal which...

We loved Al Canal Regio it is ideally placed to walk from or catch the Vaporetto to all of the main sites in Venice , being just of the main street (Strada Nuovo). It is not as some advisors suggest in a run down part of Venice , but a stones throw from the Ghetto area .Although the rooms are...

We were very impressed with this "boutique" style hotel. Nothing flash but very modern, clean and well appointed. Staff were very obliging. The location, at the end of the Strada Nova was ideal for Rialto and gondola ferry to "the other side."

We have just returned from a very enjoyable weekend in Venice, staying in the Al Canal Regio hotel. I would not describe it as a boutique hotel, but would say it is a very clean, well presented hotel in a great location and very good value for money. The room was large (no 26) and the bathroom was also a...

We staid 3 nights at this beautiful Hotel, everything was so nice! The staff was helpful and friendly, and Marco and Michele help us to make our holiday fantastic! They´ve told us about a very good restaurant (Al graspo de ua) where we tried venitian specialities. The room was very clean and the atmosphere created by the mix of venitian...

This hotel is trying to pass its self off as a boutique hotel and it could not be further away. Their web site is a total lie, they do not offer the things as said on the site. We booked a junior suite which comes with robe & slippers, there was no robe and when mentioned we were told like...

I am confused by all the positive reviews I have read regarding this hotel as I can find nothing good to say about it. Its website claims it is a high class boutique hotel, but I found it to be nothing more than a substandard bed and breakfast. We arrived with our friends at 7.00pm, it was pouring with rain...

Dear Sirs/Madam, we decided to answer to your bad feedback since it's totally improper. First off all, when you arrived with your friends at our hotel, the reason why there was nobody at the front-desk is that there's been a real problem and the staff had to leave the place for a while. You've not been left outside the entrance...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
