Had reservations when booking the hotel because of it's back alley location but my opinion soon change for the better. It's only a few yards from transport links and close to every kind of shopping you could need. The hotel it's self was quite modern and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful with any queries we had....

Wi-fi worked 10% of time - if you sat at window - which opened on to to smokers' courtyard-revolting! Staff hardly around -and not very helpful. No receipt for 'city tax' demanded on arrival. Room shabby and dirty; dangerous bathroom-huge step down with no rail to hold onto. Bar fridge empty, noisy and wobbly (missing a leg). Twin beds very...

Easy access to everything! Especially San Marco and Rialto Bridge, which are an easy 10 min walk. Yes, hard to find, so Google directions beforehand! Just behind the supermarket which is handy. Breakfast costs extra, no need, just go to the supermarket. Rooms with the canal views are worth every cent! Ground floor is the best, you can wave to...

Stayed here for 4 days in March. Hotel is hidden away so naturally you'd think it would be quiet. Nope!! The walls are paper thin so can hear everything below and next to you, while the breakfast is being made in the early morning be prepared to be woken up by shouts across the courtyard and two reception rooms and...

On first glance my room appeared new and in good condition. But there was many flaws in this building. The drains oozed the smell of sewage, the TV only worked intermittently and there where no lights in my bathroom. This was fixed on request. The property was difficult to find but did provide a quite location to sleeping until a...

Stayed here 4 nights and had an absolute perfect stay! Friendly staff, nice breakfast and close to everything. Only downside was that we had some difficulties finding the hotel. Other than the tiny downside we had no problems during our stay and I would highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed at this little gem middle of August for 2 nights (but would have stayed longer if travels would allow), the rooms appearance is quite modern in comparison to elsewhere in Venice, it was also great value for money as Venice hotels generally are pretty expensive (considering you don't often get a lot for your money). Only have a...

Hotel located at a quiet alley, once walk out u are at the main street of the town, very convenient. Room is newly renovated and new toilet fittings. But, water drainage at the shower area is kinda slow. Suggest to provide slipper in room as during winter time, the floor is very cold. A comfortable stay and will stay again.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Al Canal Regio with my partner. The room was quite small but it had a double bed and a bathroom so what more do you need really? The hotel is in a great location and close to all areas of Venice, only a 15 min or so walk to St Mark's square. It...

The Hotel location is very good, as well the breakfast, only thing we didn't like was the bathtub, it was old, water will leak outside the bathtub all the way to the room area :( it was also a bit pricy, other than that all good :)

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
