Stayed there last July for a couple of days. Leonardo is one of the friendliest and most helpful b&b owners I ve ever met. Our room was spacious, nicely decorated and felt like home. Overall, I could not recommend it more highly..

Good points: great location, quiet and off main tourist track but very close to everything and handy to Grand Canal vaporetto stop. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast included. Leonardo and housekeeper both very friendly and helpful. Bad points (minor): Bathroom was on floor below (not shared so no real issue), no lift, does not take credit card.

I liked it here. I think it was perfect for people like us, who were on a budget, couldn't afford the price of Venetian hotels but also couldn't bring ourselves to staying in a hostel! B&B Leonardo was clean, tidy and in a great location. It was within walking distance to everywhere central and if you're not a walker, it...

B&B Leonardo is in a great location. The Dorsoduro is a great area to stay in, it is close to everything but is far enough away from the crowded touristy areas so it is nice and quiet. The room we stayed in was quite large and quaint, the bathroom was on the floor below but was just for us and...

Lovely and quiet, comfortable bed and nice clean bathroom (all private). Leonardo was charming and helpful, and was more than happy for us to leave our bags and stay about in the evening before our night train. Great selection for breakfast - I would DEFINITELY stay again and recommend to anyone! Well done Leonardo!

We spent a wonderful sunny week end in Venice and really felt we had a home from home at Leonardo's B&B. I communicated with Leonardo by text as our flight was delayed, and he got back to me promptly each time, arranging to meet us to take us to the B&B on arrival. We stayed in the triple room which...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
