Never met anyone so hospitable as Leonardo, he gave us a map and showed us the best places to visit. Helped us with the luggage as we are on the 3rd attic room, he gave us a large choice of breakfast and let us leave our luggage for a few hours. Overall fantastic time and fantastic city!! Charming man and...

I spent some days at B & B Leonardo this year and I've been very saisfied for both courtesy and accodomation at a reasonable price. It is located near Ca' Foscari University and it's only 15 minutes' walk far from S.Marco's Square. and from S.Lucia railways station. Strongly recommended. Due to few rooms available, I suggest booking some weeks before...

While this is in a nice location if you are attempting to achieve space from the masses, we wish we had paid a little more and stayed elsewhere. First impressions were of a dumpy, dirty, money-maker and these were confirmed over two nights. Our "private bathroom" was a floor away and connected to the kitchen and common space. It was...

My husband and I just stayed at B&B Leonardo. Let me start by saying in response to a former post that the bathroom is now in the bedroom and Leonardo does take credit cards. Plus, he recently added wi-fi. This B&B is in a great location. Just steps from Campo San Barnaba and some very good restaurants. A very short...

Stayed there last July for a couple of days. Leonardo is one of the friendliest and most helpful b&b owners I ve ever met. Our room was spacious, nicely decorated and felt like home. Overall, I could not recommend it more highly..

Good points: great location, quiet and off main tourist track but very close to everything and handy to Grand Canal vaporetto stop. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast included. Leonardo and housekeeper both very friendly and helpful. Bad points (minor): Bathroom was on floor below (not shared so no real issue), no lift, does not take credit card.

I liked it here. I think it was perfect for people like us, who were on a budget, couldn't afford the price of Venetian hotels but also couldn't bring ourselves to staying in a hostel! B&B Leonardo was clean, tidy and in a great location. It was within walking distance to everywhere central and if you're not a walker, it...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
