I pictured most hostels as catering to college-age students. This one, at least the night I was there had a more mature clientele who was eager to make friends and go out in the city. Great for solo travel. Also the location on Venice’s central...More
I was travelling solo through Venice so naturally chose a hostel close to the station. The good; lovely chatty staff, perfect location, water views. The improvable; hot without air conditioning, chatty staff (after midnight), limited bathrooms. It’s a simple place but the beds are comfortable...More

Google "Venice public transport" and click the first website to get details of public transport. It's not allowing me to add the website link in this answer. Venice have really good public transport and it's very cheap as well. I would recommend you to buy 2 or 3 days full day public transport ferry tickets which is very cheap compared to single tickets.
You can take a ferry to "Riva de Biasio DX" stop from the nearest ferry stop when you get down from bus. Use google maps to see the ferry routes from each stop.
