PROS: - good location away from the tourist mayhem on the Grand Canal - pre-arrival comms were good - the cafe latte was very good (as was the corner cafe) CONS: - it was the first day of our honeymoon, which I advised them of in the booking template, and there absolutely no mention of this in any way -... Dear Guests, thank you for the review. I am absolutely concerned about this very negative comments, since I do not believe it might be possible you have registered more cons than pros (which seem to be only a few!). Please be so kind as to contact me personally in order to deepen in the matter. Thank you, best regards. More

While the hotel itself looks very beautiful I would avoid the restaurant if you can. I would have given two stars but the view from our table was indeed spectacular and you do find a certain sense of calm and quiet on this part of the canal during the evening. This meal was one of our more expensive meals in... More

Dear Guests, thank you for the review. I am sorry to read of your overall bed experience registered at our Antinoo's Lounge & Restaurant. Honestly it is difficult to me to imagine that our Maitre literarlly scolded you because of the napkin: if so, it would be unaccetable, believe me. Our Staff is used to receive lots of compliments especially... More

After having my wedding completely destroyed by the Azzuro Suites in Santorini this place was just what my partner and I needed. The location was great, room very clean and well presented. Reception were polite and helpful and it was overall a pleasant stay. Located around 20 mins from the train station via water taxi.

We only went for dinner but the food, service and ambience was amazing. They had a guitarist playing as it was the weekend. Sitting by the grand canal with such a view was perfect. I would recommend it to anyone, if you can afford it. It's number 43 in Venice out of over 1300 for a reason!!!

We stayed here at the end of May for a short city break. The hotel is very well situated, just across the Grand Canal from the Piazza San Marco (cross by vaporetto, traghetto or via the Accademia Bridge). The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The only tiny niggle I have would be the step in the middle of the room... More

In the summer was Venice is very HOT and very crowded, especially when a few mega sized ships are in the port, the center of Venice at St Marks Square is NOT the place to be. It is just too crowded to see anything. The lines are long, and peoples patience is tested. But across the canal, this easy to... More

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is perfect, great views of the Grand Canal, passing boats and operatic boatmen! Modern stylish interior, lovely breakfast, which can be served on the balcony, over looking the Grand Canal too. Low noise AC and proper blackout curtains, if you like it dark and quiet. Sited in the lovely and... More

When we initially booked for Venice we were apprehensive. Comments about 'smells' and too commercialised we're many respects unfounded. We stayed in theCenturion Palace on the opposite side of the GrandCanal that housed Saint mark's square. Away from the hussle of tourist many who came as Part of a day trip from the cruise ships yet a 5 min vaparetta... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
