This gem of a Palazzo hotel close to the Rialto bridge (fabulous market) is still amazing. We stayed 3 years ago and couldn't wait to return - and were delighted when we arrived to be very kindly given an upgrade to our 'old' room number 305. Huge, high ceiling, two balconies, settee, table and chairs, large double bed, bathroom, cloakroom/entrance...

Located close to the Rialto it was the perfect base for 5 days in Venice. It is a little hard to find but don't be put off, there is a site on You Tube that shows you the exact route to the hotel from the nearest vaporetto stop. The entrance is a small door in the wall with a brass...

We stayed here in October and were really pleased. We used the YouTube video and had no problems finding the hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable and large. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. The breakfast was well worth the cost and helped us get a fast start to our day of touring since we didn't have to search...

We have just returned from three nights stay in Venice where we stayed at the Ca Bragadin Carabba. The hotel was in a perfect location, just steps away from the Rialto but located in a quiet and peaceful square, and away from all the hustle and bustle of the Rialto area. We took a water bus from the airport to...

We stayed in this hotel in mid September. It was hard to find, even with the map provided by the hotel. However, I think most hotels in Venice are probably hard to find. The hotel was good for what we paid. The room was a lot bigger than what I had expected, very clean with a very comfortable bed. The...

This was one of the largest rooms we had in Europe, very clean and we liked the location. We did watch the video on you tube, which was helpful. The staff was nice and helpful...one thing that did make us mad was we were told the best way to get to the hotel with luggage was to hire a private...

Great location; 10 minutes stroll to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco; and many other attractions. It really was an ideal starting point for our daily excursions. Despite some reviews, it was very easy to find thanks to clear instructions on Youtube; plus the hotel provided a useful map. Our room (206) was very spacious, clean, had a good...

Staying here made our trip to Venice perfect. Our room was large and lovely, breakfasts were good, and the staff very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is situated perfectly, between Rialto (easy walk from the vaporetto stop) and San Marco, overlooking a (relatively) quiet campo, where you can have coffee and snacks, or a fine dining experience at one of...

Small B&B in a good position to walk to most sights. Set in an old house with an imposing frontage onto to a square but with an entrance round the corner that is easy to miss. The U tube instructions are very helpful if you arrive by water bus (Rialto) but a water taxi drops you very close Staff could...

The luxurious room i have ever stayed for that price. Everything was excellent and in order. Rooms are spacious, quality is like a 4-5 star hotel. Location is a little bit complicated (venezia 101-every location is complicated in venice). Lovely staff.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
