The hosts were wonderful and so helpful---we needed to print our boarding pass for our next flight and they simply told us to email it to them and they had it printed the next time we picked up our...

Booked a room last minute - felt like excellent value for money Beautiful room and lovely area. Quiet room with comfy beds Spacious bathroom with bath which we enjoyed Tip Didn't feel very welcomed having to give in our passports and credit card before we'd actually got to the room

While the hotel is not easy to find initially, once you do, you'll realise you have found an oasis tucked away in the hustle and bustle of Venezia. Close by are great restaurants and patisseries and every one of the tourist attractions are within walking distance. Better yet, you can get lost but still find your way easily back to...

Perfect location to explore Venice. Just outside the crowd. From the street you will not recognize the entrance as the hotel, but when you are inside; the staff is very friendly and welcome. The room is big and very clean, but in this period some cold (december). Free and good Wifi. I missed a kettle on the room, but in...

I almost never write reviews, but my wife and I really liked this place. The room was lovely with plenty of space, comfy bed, larger than expected room/bathroom, but most of all, the hotel staff was particularly helpful to find us great local restaurants. The location was sort of central to the Rialto Bridge area and San Marco square which...

It was a nice, calm and welcoming place. Also, the location was perfect, close to famous Rialto and San Marco. The stuff took care for us to have a great stay. Had a great time and will go there again if we pass by Venice. Highly recommend.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
