We stayed at Ca"Bragadin Carabba for three wonderful weeks (the longest continuous stay recorded). We could not have asked for a better experience. Great location, not far from Rialto Bridge. Our room was superb and looked exactly as it did on website. The staff were nothing short of outstanding and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble whether booking opera tickets, restaurants...

Fantastic hotel within easy reach of all the sights. Staff where very friendly and room was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay here. Some reviews mentioned it was easy to walk past the hotel which it can be at first, we found it easy to look for the door number as it's above the door and very easy to see....

The hotel was hard to find, it's down an alleyway which is scary at night. Have to be buzzed in to get into hotel. The manager was a bit creepy, felt like he was tracking our every move. Room had a private bathroom down the hallway which was quiet inconvenient. They over booked and moved us to a different hotel...

The hotel was a bit hard to find...ended up using a YouTube video on how to find it and that worked well! Room was very nice and clean. We went in the winter and it was well heated. It was an easy walk to most of the Venice sights! Highly recommend :)

Great hotel in brilliant location although a little hard to find initially! I would return there without hesitation and would recommend it to friends. The flat for 3 people was excellent with good facilities.

I am super torn on this hotel. I really really wanted to like it and have a great experience but it was only average for one reason, the smell. The pros are the staff are extremely helpful, answering any questions about tours and restaurant recommendations (some were good and some recommendations not to our taste). The coffee in the morning...

Great location. Good base to explore Venice on the legs (only a 5 minute walk to the square St.Marc - obviously outside rush hours). We had a large room with a view of large square (a rarity). Of course (as in the whole of Venice) - trolley "morning music" . A little hard to find at first, but you get...

This was Casanova's favorite hangout, apparently. It's not easy to get to, especially hauling suitcases though Venetian alleys, but it's fairly convenient to Rialto (once you get oriented) and serves as a good home base for exploring all of Venice's big island by foot or water taxi. Good value, with breakfast provided at a moderate price (for Europe). Our room...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
