Stayed here for 3 nights and overall our stay was pleasant. This hotel is more of a B&B as it’s literally somewhere to sleep and have breakfast. There is no room service or any other special thrills, there is no ironing facility or ironing service (make sure you take your own iron). The TV only has channels in Italian, this...

Hotel Dell' Opera was in great location. Short walk from San Marcos water taxi and square. Good European breakfast ( free). We brought our daughter and the room was spacious enough for the three of us. Roof top honesty bar was nice place for drink in the evening.

This was our first visit to Venice and I was slightly anxious about travelling from the airport to our hotel. I did my own research but also decided to contact the hotel directly for their advice. They replied really quickly, giving me a variety of detailed options and offering any further assistance. We opted to travel by public transport -...

We stayed in the hotel for two nights, the location is perfect, the hotel personnel is very nice and the hotel was nice and clean. We had a big room with a balcony on the canal so we were very happy. The only negative point is the breakfast which is not good at all, but we had low expectations given...

Arrived in Venice and knew the hotel was s fair walk from the train station, so, ferry or water taxi?? We, family of four with 2 teenagers, decided to lash out and get water taxi, best decision. Couldn't drop us directly to the hotel dock, but dropped us a short walk and only cost 60euro, a beautiful way to arrive....

We booked this hotel through Trip Advisor and when we arrived they had no record of our booking. Disaster right? Not quite. They apologized even though it wasn't their fault, provided us drinks and snacks and said give them a few minutes and they'd figure something out. What they did was find us a room at a nearby hotel with...

We had a fabulous time in Venice and Hotel dell'Opera made sure that it was everything we had hoped it to be. Lovely staff and a welcoming bottle of wine set the tone. Nothing was any problem and air conditioned rooms were a plus against the heat of Venice

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
