A good Location to San Marco. Rooms are outdated but big.The toilets are extremely small but modern. A mixture of staff attitude, some are very friendly and nice some are cold and unhelpful. Due to being along the canal you can hear the boats going by.

I planned the trip to propose to my girlfriend. After deliberating for a long while with all the hotels on trip advisor I plumped for this one, and I was not disappointed !!! Enrico the receptionist was unbelievably helpful in trying to make this weekend extra special. I specifically requested a canal view and was shocked to find we got...

We have just returned from a long weekend at this Hotel. It is very well placed in Venice, central to designer shops, canals and St Marc's Square. When we arrived it was around 11am and our room wasn't cleaned as yet. They very kindly gave us coffee and snacks until it was. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Once...

Located 10 minutes walk from the "Grand Canal"and" Piazza San Marco", the hotel is easy to find. It's central location is handful as moving around with your suitcase can reveal itself very tricky and become a real pain as streets are always very busy. Rooms and bathroom are very neat and tidy. To my personal taste, I would have enjoyed...

The hotel is on a canal and is only 5-10 minutes walk to St Mark's Square (Doge's Palace and St Mark's Basilica). Our room was spacious. We has a king sized bed and a large sofa in the room. The balcony was overlooking a canal and the gondolas floated by all day. The room had a medium sized bathroom with...

Stayed here for 3 nights and overall our stay was pleasant. This hotel is more of a B&B as it’s literally somewhere to sleep and have breakfast. There is no room service or any other special thrills, there is no ironing facility or ironing service (make sure you take your own iron). The TV only has channels in Italian, this...

Hotel Dell' Opera was in great location. Short walk from San Marcos water taxi and square. Good European breakfast ( free). We brought our daughter and the room was spacious enough for the three of us. Roof top honesty bar was nice place for drink in the evening.

This was our first visit to Venice and I was slightly anxious about travelling from the airport to our hotel. I did my own research but also decided to contact the hotel directly for their advice. They replied really quickly, giving me a variety of detailed options and offering any further assistance. We opted to travel by public transport -...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
