I stayed here with friends for a long weekend, the hotel is lovely, the staff are friendly and the food served at breakfast was excellent - we especially loved that there's an upstairs terrace balcony where you can sit and relax while enjoying a drink looking out at the rooftops of Venice. Venice itself wasn't crowded so we had a...

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband. When we arrived we got upgraded! Yay! Room was spacious and clean with a view of the canal -203 I think. Liked it so much we booked another night but unfortunately we had to move rooms. Bummer as we had settled in but the new room was nice enough. Not...

Clean, elegant and atmospheric. Right in the heart of the old town, provides fast and easy access to everything you need to see and taste. Placed on a narrow canal, you get to feel like a venician of past centuries. It has a small, dreamy terrace roof where you can drink your proceco. Staff very helpful and polite. A place...

The hotel has wonderful views, nice customer service and clean accommodations. The rooms were not plush by any means, but when traveling you don't spend much time in your room anyway. Great location, nice breakfast and would recommend.

My wife and I stayed two nights in this charming, small hotel on a narrow canal just a block away from Teatro La Fenice. Our room faced the canal, and was impressively large, with a king-sized bed, a loveseat, a coffee table and three chairs. The bathroom was fully modern, with marble walls and floor. Breakfast is served as a...

A lovely central location, situated overlooking one of the many canals, this is a clean and friendly hotel, we were very lucky in being upgraded as it was my 50th, the breakfast buffet was enough to keep you going through the early part of the day and nothing was a problem from the waitress. we are thinking of retuning to...

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this hotel for our wedding anniversary, my husband had already emailed ahead to say it was a special occasion and was told that we could upgrade at a cost of 150 euros, we declined this offer but on arrival the man on reception took us personally to room 104 which was a...

We stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be centrally located. The hotel needs a renovation and looks tired. Our room which was spacious was on a definite lean and the bathroom while spacious as well got quite slippery when you had a shower as it seemed the water didn't drain away fast enough, this is a safety...

This hotel is very strange. There would be some aspect of the hotel that seems nice right next to something absolutely horrible. The rooms are disgusting. Our room was completely dirty and smelled of urine. There were brown smudges on the walls near the beds and noticeable grime and dirt on the surfaces and floors. The curtains and bedding was...

Very well organized boutique hotel. Extremely fair value for stay that included buffet breakfast. Our rooms (103 &104) were large and clean. We stayed there Oct 2015. Charming location as our rooms were on the canal side, we saw and heard gondoliers singing to the passengers onboard! The sounds of their voices and instruments echo off the buildings was just...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
