Great location right next to the Basilica and just a few steps away from Prato della Valle, one of the main attractions in the city. Quite noisy when windows are open because of the busy street but the windows isolate well and we slept great with closed windows. Everything else can be reached by a 15-20-minute walk through the charming streets of Padova. Breakfast is Italian and mainly sweet. Okay selection, nothing fancy. There's many coffee bars and restaurants closeby. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms a little dated but clean. No shower curtain so the bathroom gets quite wet when taking a shower, shower rod was loose. Toiletries provided. Good Wi-Fi. Beware: the hotel is in a limited traffic zone. Do not enter the street where the hotel is located by car or you'll be fined. Instead, park on the big Basilica-square and staff will show you the way to the garage.

I stayed in Hotel Donatello for 4 nights 12-17 February. The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre for all the attractions of Padua. My room, 116 on the first floor was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Breakfasts are plentiful and good and it’s nice to be served fresh coffee. The staff at the reception and in the breakfast room were very pleasant and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Donatello and am happy to recommend it.

We stayed here for one night in October. We'd originally booked for two but had to cancel the second night due to a general transport strike. The hotel were very good in emailing us regarding this cancellation. Our stay was ok. The room was tired & worn but clean & quiet. The breakfast was excellent however & the coffee was fantastic! The breakfast & cleaning staff were lovely but the from desk staff seemed dour & really over communicating with tourists. After we'd paid our account & checked out we left our bags & had a quick look at the church across the road. We then picked up our bags & headed to Padova station on the tram. On arrival I found that my wallet had 'disappeared' from a zippered compartment in my handbag. Truly, these people are magicians! We had to get on our train to Bologna so once there I emailed the hotel to ask them to check & see if I had dropped it while picking up our luggage. I don't blame the hotel in any way for the loss of my wallet but they didn't bother to reply to my email which was disappointing & didn't leave us wanting to ever stay with them again.Needless to say I now wear a money belt at all times in Europe!

This is our 3rd trip to the Veneto and looking for a base that was not Venice but close enough for day trips to Venice we choose Padua and very glad we did such a nice vibrant University Town lots of history without the crowds and the extra $$$$ of Venice. Hotel Donatello is very well located and a great base from which to explore the eastern Veneto and Venice itself only 30 minutes away via the train. We booked a room with a view and that’s exactly what we got plus there was a chilled bottle of Prosecco in the room. Often in these 3 star hotels the breakfast leaves something wanting- not so at Donatello Josepha and Eloy run one of the best breakfast rooms in Italy and the free cappuccinos were first rate . The rest of the staff are just as welcoming and wonderful this might be a 3/4 star hotel but it’s five stars for service!

There were six of us celebrating our friend's retirement. Staff was so friendly and helpful for where to go and helped with directions. Great location right by St. Anthony. and steps away from the tram.
