Hotel Grand’ Italia was formerly the residence of Guglielmo Folchi, who was bestowed with the honour of becoming Cavaliere del Lavoro (Knightly Order of Merit for Labour). It was built in 1907 under the superintendence of the Engineer Giuseppe Pesaro not far from the Padua railway station. It lies on the corner of two streets. Due to its dynamic and rounded structure, the architecture of the Folchi Palace sheds the old schemes. Still today it impresses with its liberty-rococo style, its very essence. Despite all the renovations done throughout the years, the original architectural style of the Palace has been preserved with great care. Hotel Grand’ Italia continues to dominate the scene, welcoming its guests in a sumptuous and regal atmosphere, which is perfectly tuned to its irresistible aristocratic charm. The strategic position of the Hotel allows you to reach the center of Padua, which is just a short walk away.

The location directly next to Padova Centrale station is a bit seedy but very convenient. The Cappella della Scrovegni and the downtown core are within walking distance and quickly accessible by streetcar. The historic hotel is beautifully decorated. The interior of the room was new and functional with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. TV, WLAN and air conditioning worked reliably. The breakfast buffet was served in a charming historically decorated room; the quality of the breakfast was nothing special but OK. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again any time.

It is obvious that the this hotel has known glorious days judging its architecture and its grand hall and yes - as stated in many reviews - it is a bit outdated and the area is a bit grim but it has many pros (which is confirmed by the category of guests you can see in this hotel) : its location just outside the train station and next to the bus station (very easy to step on the bus to go and visit the beautiful Palladio villas along the Brenta canal or the grandiose Contarini Villa in Piazzole sul Brenta), 10 mn walking from the extraordinary Scrovegni chapel and 15mn walking from the historical center. Rooms are very decent (even if dated) with large beds and are quiet. Staff is very welcoming. Room prices are not expensive. Breakfast could be better (quantity is not the problem but quality could be better).

It was a sleepless night due to the hotel location. The hotel is close to Macdonalds which is working till late night. During the whole night I was lestening loudy noises like moving furniture, out loud speech and music and showering toilet. Moreover, I approached several times hotel stuf and ask for help but their response was that they are well aware and it is their constant problem but they could not influence Macdonalds till 2 am due to local law. Thus, I would not recomend this hotel for stay because if you got room in the right wing of the hotel bordering with Macdonalds you can forget about sleep. Avoid this place and save your sleep;)

Dear B1676QT_, Thank you for your review. We are really sorry for your feedback. In fact we don't accept that our guests can listen loudly noises during their stay, and as soon as alerted, the night porter required to stop it immediately. The day after your stay we request, and obtain, that such things no longer happen. We are looking forward to seeing you soon with a special offer, to give you the chance to change your mind about our Hotel. Kindest regards. Christian C.

Old world charm and a convenient location near the train station and tram and bus stops. This is our second visit to this hotel and we were very pleased with the pleasant helpful staff, our nice sized quiet room and the wonderful breakfast buffet. One can walk to the old historic town in 15 min, to the Scrovegni Chapel and Museum in 5 min.and the train station is across the large square, very convenient if traveling by train. Breakfast buffet is in an elegant high ceiling room and one can order complimentary special coffee. We will return again if we are in Padua.

The room we were assigned to was moldy so they moved us. The next room was moldy, dusty and dirty. We had to buy wipes to clean bathroom vanity which had crumbs on it for two days and also had cleaned the end tables. The carpeting has ripples to trip on. It is also pretty much stained. Walls need to be painted Outside the immediate front door of hotel, people are just hanging out. A lot of people loitering. We did not feel safe at night. There are no restaurants nearby. The manager told me the hotel is old. I said all of Italy is old but that doesn’t excuse cleanliness. Truly unclean
