The hotel claims to be pet friendly but then they do not accept dogs bigger that 18kg. This is not even mentioned on the website. I booked a room and then they wanted to charge for the cancellation and they were very rude on the phone. This would have never happened in England where I have lived for many years. DO BOOK IF YOU HAVE DOGS WITHOUT CALLING FIRST.
If you plan a visit to the Isle of Orta, stop here for a relaxed, good quality lunch and enjoy the view. The placed is managed by family memebers and it seems one of the always more rare italian family restaurants....good food at the right quality and price with a spectacular lake view just at the center of Orta
First the good stuff: great location, beautiful hotel, lovely looking room and bathroom (maybe too much gold but that is in the name), great Lake views. That’s it-the staff are not friendly, they’ll ignore you for as long as they can, they’ll tell you the aircon has been switched off for the year and cannot be switched on again without a plumber. Which isn’t true-and they will switch it on at the desk, but only after you lose your temper with them (the temp was over 30 degrees, open a window and get bitten to hell and back by mosquitos). This wasn’t just us-we heard from other guests who’d had the exact same treatment. There’s a very unhappy bouncer prowling the breakfast room, in case anyone starts to relax and enjoy themselves-he started shouting at one guest who had tried to carry an apple out of the room. It’s almost like a joke. The famed grandmas wander about with sullen expressions, prodding things and ordering similarly sullen members of staff about. Overall a beautiful place with a bad atmosphere. What a shame.…
Stayed just the night at the end of a walking tour & all was good. Easy check in (not a warm welcome but good enough) & quickly in our room (210). We had access to a balcony from our double doors that overlooked the lake which was a fabulous view. All was good apart from the room size which was small even for Europe & the fact that wifi was unavailable from our room throughout our stay. No problems however & loved the breakfast, the service down there & the variety of offerings. Good service on check out to get a shuttle to the station. Perfect except for the room size, the only reason for the 4/5.
Staff were very friendly, hotel very clean. Excellent location absolutely perfect. We had a early checkout so the staff had arranged a very welcomed breakfast bag. Food excellent in the restaurant with beautiful views. A nice little place to swim down some steps on the terrace, nice area to chill out and relax on the sun loungers. Will definitely book again
