The rooms, at 12 sq.m (?) must be the smallest in Milan. Ridiculously small - even for one person. The hotel has a good location near Piazza Duomo. However, many better options nearby at the same price. The hotel charges EUR 36.00 for a simple breakfast - tea & croissant! When complaining they simply say this is what you must... More

It is not at any standard of a 5-star hotel. Rooms were very small and even when we asked for a bigger one they told us it cost more. However, the hotel is not that cheap. I am giving 2 stars; one for the great location and one for forgetting our wallet in the safe box after checkout and we... More

This Hotel is a very good choice when you want to join the Milan Nightlife! It is very stylish with beautiful designed rooms and in the very central next to duomo. The Service was outstanding and i had a very nice stay. Thanks!

Fairly a four star hotel that gets the fifth one thanks to the extremely convenient location in the very heart of Milan. Interiors are definitely not luxurious, one towel was dirty, no complimentary water, staff is not wearing a professional 5 star uniform and is not trained as 5 star personnel is usually trained. Soaps smell like fish detergents and... More

It's a small hotel and was given 5 stars ??!!!that is wired in the hotel business !!! Because I'm in this business for more than 25 yrs and I'm sure the criteria of the 5 stars doesn't match this gray hotel. Starting from the lobby, so small in addition to VERY bad attitude of staff and that day and night... More

This hotel USP is it's location. The rooms are average and the service almost non existant. As mentionned we stayed there because the location is excellent, close to the Duomo place and most of all to the covered Gallerias. We used it only to sleep in, the breakfast is basic, but used fresh products. The bar adjacent to the Lobby... More

The Gray is like a beautiful man or woman but lacks the substance that keeps you interested. While greeted with a smile in other hotels in Italy, the hotel staff here seems to be lacking in personality and life altogether. Nothing depressed us more than passing in the lobby with no one to open the door and no greeting despite... More

We stayed only one night, and wanted to be centrally located. Location was perfect, on the doorstep of all fantastic things to see in the centre of Milan. For EUR 280 per double room, our expectations were set at a high level. However, (a) whilst room was nicely designed it did not work perfectly....for example, the A/C was very noisy... More

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A gem of a hotel in the heart of Milan, where stunning contemporary design meets sophistication and comfort. The Gray, with just 21 individually decorated rooms, is an intimate property full of style, an d includes an atmospheric restaurant, a cosy bar and bedrooms, some of which have their own private gym. Smart, witty design elements throughout add to the sense of elegance and comfort. Deep chocolate browns contrast with crisp creams, geometric lines are softened by colored lighting effects, while bright colour accents, such as the suspended fuchsia swing in the lobby, enliven the ambience. An afternoon of sightseeing could not be easier as the Duomo is literally at the end of the street and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is in front of the hotel. A five-minute walk takes you to the fashion district around Via Monte Napoleone. Return to the hotel for delicious Mediterranean cuisine in the restaurant before heading to the opera. The Gray is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property. ... more   less
