This is a lovely small hotel that is super charming and in a great location. The hotel itself is a few floors in an old, well-maintained building. The highlight of the hotel for me was the amazing room. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, and one side opened up to a rather large balcony. The room was "bamboo "if you want to ask for it. (Photos are the room I stayed in, but not my photos) Besides that, the hotel, has a good breakfast and a helpful staff. The note I would say if you want a big hotel that is the whole building with a huge lobby, full restaurant, etc, that is not this hotel. If you want cute, charming, great location, nice staff, this is an awesome bet.
Stayed for four nights, our room was the loft studio which was a lovely large airy space. Bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean.. perfect location, so central yet very quiet. Staff are very helpful. If your looking for good food stay away from the Main Street, restaurants are overpriced and offer a poor standard. Our lunch favourites were DonCola In Brera and Zog in Navigli. After eating sub standard, overpriced Italian food at Signorvino we enjoyed excellent food at Neo Kisha a small Japanese restaurant near the castle .
The hotel feels more as an Airbnb that a hotel, as it occupies several floors of a residential building. Located on a quiet side street near the center of town it offers a variety of rooms, some with kitchenettes. We had a room with a terrace. The room itself was very small, even by European standards, there was a small space to hang a few items, but no place to put your clothes. You are going to be living out of your suitcase. The terrace is lovely, and when the weather was nice a great place to have coffee or drinks. The beds were the hardest we encountered in Italy, it's like sleeping on a board. Everything hurt the next morning. Continental breakfast is included and you can order additional items at an extra charge. The highlight of our stay was the service, which was prompt and excellent, especially considering there is basically one person at the "front desk" taking care of everything.…
This was a hidden secret in the heart of Milan, yet quiet and unobtrusive. The reception staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful and knowledgable. We stayed for two nights in a suite and our friends had a room with a terrace (highly recommended). Everything was beautifully clean with comfortable king size beds and even a kitchenette with fridge, hob and sink. Difficult to find but that was a great advantage once you knew where it was. Close to the Duomo and the Galleria. Breakfasts were good ( and included in the price if booked through booking.com) with freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, rolls and croissants. Fruit salad was an extra charge. We would definitely use this hotel again if we return to Milan.
Had a lovely time in Milan and was well looked after by the hotel. Nice, clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is ideally situated to access the central part of the city, with the Duomo and main shopping and restaurant areas just around the corner.
The Antica Locanda was our first stop on a 5 week trip Milan was exciting and very worthwhile. This hotel is very central to all sites to walk or short taxi ride/metro The hospitality at the hotel was outstanding Eri welcomed us and for the next 4 days we felt so spoilt and special her warm nature and friendly personality Nothing was too much We like to stay in boutique hotels, small with the flavour of the city we are in, Antica Locanda fulfills all that and more. The breakfast is small in selection but more than enough. Rooms were very clean and all amenities available. Bed very comfortable and plenty of room for suitcases and clothes. We stayed on reception floor near the kitchen. We would stay here again and look forward to visiting Milan again soon
We stayed at Locanda for two nights and found the hotel great! The room was huge, the beds comfortable, location very central, between Duomo and Brera and La Scala. The staff was great. Only one thing was problematic: and that was that the bath room was separated from the bedroom with a sliding door which was not tight, so there was no sound isolation between the two different rooms. Not so nice when you are traveling with your wife, and not alone. Therefore: the hotel should fix bathroom door. Otherwise a great hotel!!
After traveling for 2 weeks through different cities in Italy, Antica Locanda was by far the nicest room we stayed in. We rented a suite and was so surprised when I walked in. It was beautiful in a simple kind of way, large room and beautiful views from the window. Within walking distance to the Duomo, yet on a quiet unassuming street. Staff was extremely helpful arranging transportation and probably anything else you could possibly need. Our breakfast was not included in the price, it was 15Euros pp. It was not elaborate, but everything was super fresh (also best cappuccino during our travels) and they can make eggs for you. I would definitely stay in the same room again and am looking to in the future. I was told they have 4 suites and that they are all as beautiful as the one I stayed in. They do have about 5-7 steps that you have to go up with luggage before you reach the elevator but they helped us with our luggage. ANTICA LOCANDA dei MERCANTI in Via San Tomaso 6 - 20121 Milano, Italy is perhaps one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve had in a four-star hotel, although humbly it carries only three stars. It was recommended to me by a dear Milanese friend who said her relatives who came to visit Milan always stayed there. That was sufficient for me. And it was truly a family experience. Eri and Costantino were always there to help and support just like family or close friends. The room was much larger than normal, with high ceiling and ample seating area all beautifully decorated. The bathroom too, roomy, clean, and comfortable. The location was perfect, just away from the maddening crowds, yet only 10 minutes walk to the Duomo, Scala, and all of the best churches as well as the fabulous Galleria and Pasticceria Marchesie. The most mesmerising experience in Milan is of course to visit Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, only about 15 minutes walk from Antica Locanda. I recommend the hotel Very highly.…
We were so lucky to come across this beautiful boutique hotel tucked away in a side street off the bustling streets of Milan. The room was very spacious, clean and quiet. Breakfast was simple but tasty and served with a smile. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommend you stay here.
