May 2009 was hot in Milan. Although the hotel claims to be airconditioned, our room was extremely hot. The person at the desk graciously came to our room and fiddled with the "air condition control", but nothing happened. When we opened the windows at night, we suffered nasty bug bites. Our room was on the floor above the reception area....

My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel London for our honeymoon in Italy. We traveled to 6 cities during our trip and booked a wide range of accommodations from B&B's to 3 star, 4 star and 5 star accommodations. We loved the location of the hotel (right next to the Castle) and the hotel was clean and had nice...

We had two nights in the Hotel London. Reception was friendly and helpful and cheerfully agreed to make arrangements for our very early morning trip to the airport several days later. The room was clean, but very small, even by European standards. The en suite bathroom (stall shower) was also small, and one had to enter sideways because of the...

I went to Milan as the first city in Italy for my honeymoon. I bought three travel guides a month ago, and wanted to quickly book the hotel for our starting point. Hence, I relied upon those books and did not check Trip Advisor. BIG mistake. Both Rick Steves and Pauline Frommer recommended the London Hotel. Since it was at...

This is a two stars hotel, in the center of Milano, old fashioned and not exactly good as the internet site presents it. The rooms are clean and ordinate, but the whole structure (and furniture) is out of date and I wouldn't give it more than a single star. If you're out of size you couldn't be not able to...

Even though the rooms were pretty small, the price was not too bad and the location was excellent. We walked easily to the Duomo (and encountered the celebrations when Inter Milan won!), to see the Last Supper, to La Scala and even walked to the shopping area.

We chose this hotel for its location and price. We did encounter some difficultly finding it, as it is located on a small side street, however, it was centrally located to the sites we wished to see and close to the metro and train station (we travelled by train). Room and bathroom were small, but adequate. Staff was friendly.

Hotel London was a great find. The staff was extremely helpful with all my questions, and the location could not have been better. Milan is a very expensive city, and anything closer would've cost much more. While my single room with a bath was quite small, I'm a single traveler so I don't need much space. The room was clean,...

Spent four nights here at the end of June. Italy is in the midst of a record summer heat wave, and the London has good AC. The location can't be beat. It's on a small, quiet sidestreet between the Duomo and the Sforza castle just around the corner from the Cairoli metro stop. The hotel is clean and the sisters...

This past May, my husband, daughter, and brother-in-law all stayed at the Hotel London in Milan. We heard about the hotel through a guide book, and then also referred to tripadvisor.com. All the reviews were positve, as was our experience. The hotel is in a great location right in the tourist area of Milan. The duomo is only minutes away,...

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
